Krypton is the name commonly attributed to Superman's birth-planet. Different versions of Krypton have appeared over the past seventy years, each one exclusive to the reality of a different publishing era. Krypton was also the original name of a dog once owned by Bibbo Bibbowski and later, Superboy (Kon-El).
