Ket-Zek on a RuneScape Duel Card.

The Ket-Zek, also known as KZ, is a monster found in the TzHaar Fight Caves. It resembles a giant red lion. They appear first in wave 31. It uses powerful magic and melee attacks, which hit up to 49 and 54, respectively. For this reason, the prayer Protect from Magic is recommended. The magic attack consists of the Ket-Zek flinging something that looks like a fireball at you with its tail. Players with a high defence level will find that neither of these attacks will hit often, however once it does they will do massive damage, faster than you could eat. Be warned that if you activate the protect from magic prayer after you have been hit once, two more attacks will still hit you, most likely killing you in the process. Ranged attacks are best for this monster as it eliminates its melee attack, leaving only the magic attack to worry about. Killing one of these is a required hard task in the Karamja Diary.

It is currently the fourteenth-highest level monster in the game, after the Tormented Demons, the Balance Elemental, the Avatars of Creation and Destruction, the Decaying avatar, Kree'arra, Commander Zilyana, General Graardor, K'ril Tsutsaroth, Nomad, TzTok-Jad, the Spirit Beast and the Corporeal Beast, and so is the thirteenth highest levelled attackable monster as the Spirit Beast cannot be attacked. It was the second-highest level monster until the release of the God Wars Dungeon, Spirit of Summer, Summer's End, While Guthix Sleeps and Nomad's Requiem.

  • According to Reldo, Ket-Zek literally translates from TzHaar as either "Guard Dog" or "Big Hurt", although he hasn't used the TzHaar language for some time, so the translation may be inacurrate.
