Karin Hopper was an assistant counselor aboard the USS Prospect and USS Prospect-A and a member of Special Operations.
Towards the ends of the search for the USS Rutherford in 2372, the Prospect-A was involved in an intense battle with the Jem'Hadar, seriously injuring Hopper and fellow crewmembers Kari Liljehorn and George Serigos. After her recovery at Deep Space 9, she broke off her engagement with fellow Prospect officer Steven DiCosola and transferred assignments. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "Directive")
