Chronological and political information

Judder Page was a Human commando who served the Rebel Alliance, New Republic, and Galactic Alliance.

Early life

The son of an Imperial senator from Corulag[2], Page grew up reading stories of legendary Jedi Knights, and wished his father could be more like them. He used his father's wealth to train himself in combat and defensive techniques, and when he was old enough, his father sent him to the Imperial Academy.

He did not approve of his father's politics or role in the Imperial Senate, but Page decided to make the best of his appointment to the Academy. Page studied hard at the Academy, familiarizing himself with military doctrine and tactics. He graduated from the Academy with honors and was assigned as a scout in the Imperial Army, under the command of Maximilian Veers.

While on leave on Coruscant, Page heard one of Princess Leia Organa's anti-Imperial speeches to the Council of Galactic Rights, and was deeply moved by the speech and captivated by her beauty. The speech, which concerned itself with the rights of all beings and condemned Palpatine's New Order for its subjugation of species and slavery, mixed with his own personal feelings regarding the Empire, convinced Page to defect to the Rebel Alliance.

He was recruited by Crix Madine, who had recently defected to the Alliance himself, and took part in the Battle of Hoth[2] under the command of Bren Derlin. Page's forgettable face and ability to blend into a crowd earned him a place amongst the Alliance's commando ranks. In that capacity, Page was assigned to the strike team that infiltrated the forest moon of Endor, where he fought in the Battle of Endor[2] alongside Derlin and Han Solo to destroy the shield generator.

Immediately after the victory at Endor, Page assisted Han Solo in capturing the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Accuser. The two literally talked their way onto the bridge and forced the surrender of the warship without firing a single shot.

Page was promoted to Lieutenant after the battle and refused to accept any further promotions. In 5 ABY he served in Commando Team One at the First Battle of Ciutric.

Prior to the first taking of Coruscant, Page, along with Corran Horn and Rogue Squadron, formed a plan to take the planet Borleias, in the Pyria system. Page took part in the mission to capture that planet from the Imperials, which was one of the first stepping stones to taking the Imperial Capital.

Around the time of the Thrawn campaign, Page was assigned to the elite Katarn Commandos. Page rose to prominence in the unit, taking command with the departure of Kyle Katarn. The unit would eventually become so well associated with Judder Page that it was called Page's Commandos.[2]

During a meeting with Dravis during the Thrawn campaign, Page acted as backup for Han Solo and Wedge Antilles. Although Dravis spotted Antilles easily, he failed to spot Page, who subsequently reported to Solo that Dravis arrived without backup or heavy weaponry. Page would later do security sweeps on Coruscant for Leia Organa Solo.

Yuuzhan Vong War

By the Yuuzhan Vong War, Page was a captain and assigned to Memory of Ithor under the command of Pash Cracken. During Operation Trinity, Memory of Ithor was destroyed and both Page and Cracken were believed dead. However, the two men managed to board escape pods prior to the ship's destruction, but were captured by the Yuuzhan Vong and imprisoned on Selvaris. A member of the Ryn Network eventually infiltrated the camp and provided the Galactic Alliance with the location of the prison. Both Page and Cracken were rescued.

Page would eventually be trapped on Caluula Station with Han Solo, fighting against the Yuuzhan Vong forces. The battle appeared to be lost, but with the arrival of the Mandalorian warriors led by none other than Boba Fett, the tide of the battle shifted and Page once again survived yet another close encounter.

Page returned with the Solos to Mon Calamari in time to prepare for the invasion of Coruscant. During the Second Battle of Coruscant, Page once again led his commando team into battle, following the Jedi across the rooftops and balconies of Yuuzhan'tar towards their final target, Shimrra's Citadel.

Behind the scenes

Lt. Page was created by Timothy Zahn for the novel Heir to the Empire (1994). His story was expanded in the Heir to the Empire Sourcebook, which established much of his background and the existence of his unit, Page's Commandos.

Endor Limited, a 1999 expansion set of Decipher Inc.'s Star Wars Customizable Card Game, retconned one of the extras of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi as a canonical representation of Page. Page was thus portrayed by actor David Church in the film.

In the comic adaptation of Heir to the Empire, Page is depicted as a ridge-headed alien.
