History

Johnathan Cheval was an honest business man skilled in the feild of grinding and polishing lenses. Financial trouble ruined his business, and Cheval became a criminal using lens based weapons. Cheval became an adversary of Hawkman and the Justice Society of America. Monocle was also one of the villains offered membership to Ultra-Humanite's Secret Society of Super Villains. During the Identity Crisis he allied himself with Merlyn, and Deadshot. During their confrontation with the Justice League of America, Monocle was the first to fall after he was struck in the head by Hawkman's mace. After evading arrest, Monocle was killed by Kate Spencer, the most recent Manhunter.

Notes

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-Two era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
