Joe Sakic

Joseph Steve 'Joe' Sakic (b. July 7th 1969 in Burnaby, British-Columbia, Canada) is a professional centre who plays in the National Hockey League for the Colorado Avalanche, a franchise with whom he has played his entire career (starting in the Quebec Nordiques era).

Born to Croatian immigrants, Sakic established himself as one of the best player of the league, as much by his skills than by his leadership abilities. Twice in his career did he score 50 goals in a season, and he reached the 100 points plateau six times.

Sakic was gold medalist with the Canadian National Team at the 2002 Olympics, helping the country end a fifty years gold medal drought.

His younger brother Brian Sakic also was a professional hockey player, but although drafted to the NHL, he never made it.
