Death

  • Joanna was not meant for this flight and was therefore not meant to come to the island. She was not killed by a simple riptide, as Janelle guessed. Something on the Island killed her because she was not meant to be there; she had no use to the Island. It could have been the Others.
  • Joanna Miller was pulled into the submarine owned by the Others.
  • Kate poisons Joanna, for her I.D., she gets cramps and drowns.

She's not dead

  • Barbara Joanna Miller is Karen DeGroot.
  • She is Bonnie, as the letters in Bonnie can be pulled from Barbara Joanna Miller, they heavily resemble each other, and Joanna supposedly drowned, although she could have easily actually found the Looking Glass and entered it.
  • Joanna is Bonnie, she is part of the DHARMA Initiative, DHARMA has planned the crash of Flight 815 on the Island, Joanna faking drowning and entering of the Looking Glass is also part of the DHARMA plan to take back the Island from the Others.
