Trivia
- The character is named after Mr. Bonice's real life brother, Jason. It was he who decided his character should command the Intrepid, as at the time, the only Intrepid seen was in TOS: "The Immunity Syndrome".
- Jason McKnight's first appearance was in Night of the Feast.
- This character was in the original version of Night of the Feast but had a much smaller role. His role was expanded in the new version of the story.
- In order to fit the childhood background of all the McKnight children, each one was born in a different place to reflect their father's career. Therefore, Jason McKnight was born in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, Earth when the McKnights had been stationed at Ramstein Air Base. In real life, the Bonice family had been stationed at Reserve Storage Activity, Mieseu for three years.
