James Bond was a fictional secret agent created by author Ian Fleming in the mid-20th century. Some 50 novels chroncling the character's exploits were written by Fleming and others over the next 50 years, and the character was featured in a long-running series of motion pictures from the early 1960s.

• According to one account of the First Doctor's final adventure, Ben Jackson, a man from the mid-1960s, viewed a Bond film starring Roger Moore in 2000 (DWN: Doctor Who and the Tenth Planet); however another account says Jackson actually viewed an unidentified western film in 1986 (DW: The Tenth Planet). Although Moore had not taken on the role of Bond when the serial was first broadcast in 1966, he had already made two Bond films by the time author Gerry Davis' novelisation was published in 1976. It is also worthy of note that by 1986, Roger Moore was no longer Bond. The role eventually went to Timothy Dalton, but in 1986 it was offered to Pierce Brosnan, although it's possible that Ben was viewing the 1985 film A View to a Kill, which did star Moore.
• Jo Grant, who supposedly worked for UNIT as a secret agent, complained that contrary to the beliefs of her family and friends, her real life involved much more drudgery than the glamorized life of James Bond. (DW: Frontier in Space)
• When the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones went to attend Lazarus' experiment, Martha commented that the Doctor looked like James Bond due to his decision to wear a black-tie tuxedo for the occasion. (DW: The Lazarus Experiment)

Behind the Scenes

• During location filming at Lanzarote for Planet of Fire, Peter Davison posed for publicity photos for Planet of Fire with a prop gun and tuxedo with a bikini-clad Nicola Bryant by his side, in a classically Bond-like pose, to announce her debut as Peri Brown. Jason Kane also adopts a "Bond pose" on the cover of Deadfall by Gary Russell.
• Fans have jokingly speculated that Bond may be a Time Lord as he changes his appearance every few years. In the trailer to GoldenEye (though not in the film itself), Pierce Brosnan's first words as Bond, "You were expecting someone else?", echo the Sixth Doctor's first words after his regeneration in the last few moments of The Caves of Androzani.
• The Curse of Fatal Death was shot in Pinewood Studios, famous for being the studios used for the James Bond films.
• Doctor Who and the James Bond film franchise share common ground in terms of longevity, with both being revived successfully after lengthy hiatuses.
• Numerous Doctor Who actors have appeared in the Bond film series over the years, including Honor Blackman, Julian Glover, John Cleese, Burt Kwouk, Catherine Schell, Philip Locke and Joanna Lumley; several others, including Bernard Cribbins and Dave Prowse, appeared in 1967's Casino Royale, a James Bond spoof not considered part of the main series of films. Rowan Atkinson also appeared in 1983's Never Say Never Again, an independently made Bond film again not connected to the main series. To date only one actor who actually played James Bond has appeared in Doctor Who: Timothy Dalton, who guest starred as Rassilon in DW: The End of Time.

James Bond is a fictional British spy, created by Ian Fleming in 1953, who has become the popular archetype of the debonair secret agent. He has been portrayed in numerous novels and movies, and his exploits have been spoofed by many, including the Muppets.

• Roger Moore, then the current James Bond, made an appearance on The Muppet Show in episode 524, fighting off villainous spy Muppets disguised as cute bunny rabbits.
• The same season, Shirley Bassey sang "Goldfinger," the title song from the Bond movie, in The Muppet Show episode 504; Link Hogthrob appeared in the number, clad as Auric Goldfinger.
• A Monsterpiece Theater sketch spoofs the James Bond franchise with a James Bond Muppet and Dr. No.
• Baby Kermit appeared as a James Bond-type spy in issue #16 of the Muppet Babies Comics.
• Baby Gonzo imagined himself as James Bond in a 1984 Muppet Babies episode, "The Case of the Missing Chicken." The episode also has Baby Piggy as "Octopiggy", a reference to the heroine from the recent 1983 film Octopussy.
• The Dinosaurs episode "How to Pick Up Girls", Robbie Sinclair imagines himself as a James Bond figure, battling a dinosaur caricature of Goldfinger villain Odd Job.
• Pierce Brosnan, the '90s James Bond, appeared in Muppets Tonight episode 204.
• In the same episode when Clifford introduce Pierce Brosan, a James Bond gun barrel sequence was shown looking for him with the James Bond Theme playing as well.
• Ernst Stavros Grouper, from Muppets Tonight episode 205, is a spoof of recurring Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
• Kermit also appeared as Agent Frog, a James Bond-type spy in Spy Muppets: License to Croak. Other Muppets in the game include Miss Piggy as Piggy Galore and Gonzo as Dr. Nose.
• Kermit spoofed James Bond in the 1998` calendar Muppet Movie Parodies: Plump Fiction, in "Go Figure."
• The Muppet Babies episode "The Frog Who Knew Too Much" features a number of Bond references, including a sequence in which baby Gonzo portrays Dr. Nose, a reference to Dr. No.
• Jalan Sesama parodied the titular character with Agen Rahasia 123.
• In the Sesame Street song, "Put a Lid on It", Waiter Grover brings Mr. Johnson a milkshake, stirred not shaken. However, Mr. Johnson replies he asked for it "shaken not stirred!", a quote from the film, Dr. No.
• In a 2008 episode of Sesame Street, Oscar tries to hide from Abby Cadabby by wearing a disguise and calming his name is "James Bond".
