Synopsis for "A League of Their Own!"

After being framed by Will Magnus, the Mariner is captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Judgment League Avengers, Mister X assembles a team to free their fellow Metamutant. The team is composed of Apollo, Runaway, Nightcreeper, Firebird, Mariner, Wraith and Mecury.

After successfully freeing Mariner, the JLX flees to the safety of Atlantis, but before reaching their haven, the JLA cathes up and a battle ensues. While holding their own against the likes of Captain Marvel, Super-Soldier, Angel Hawk, Canary, Goliath, Hawkeye, and Dark Claw, the JLX are able to slip away after a distraction by Angel Hawk, a fellow Metamutant in secret. Upon arriving in Atlantis, Mariner is shocked to find it in ruins, and the team runs into Will Magnus and his Metamutant hunting robots the Sentinels. During the fight, Mister X reveals his true identity, that of a Skrull named J'onn J'onzz and manages to defeat the Sentinels.

History

The Amalgam Universe is a parallel universe created and destroyed as a result of a cross-Multiversal conflict between cosmic beings. It was a combination of Earth-616 and New Earth.

When two entities known as the Brothers (the embodiments of both the Marvel and DC multiverses) remembered each other's existence they pitted combatants from their respective realities together. The winner would then destroy the loser (and its own respective multiverse), to prevent this from happening, the Living Tribunal and the Spectre joined forces and combined the two universes together, creating the Amalgam universe. This universe had its own unique history which was a combination of both multiverses.

With the help of the hero named Access, the Living Tribunal and the Spectre managed to separate the two realities once more and the Amalgam Universe ceased to exist.

Later, Doctor Strangefate attempted to recreate the Amalgam Universe, and he was then defeated by Doctor Strange. Victorious, Doctor Strange allowed a semblance of Doctor Strangefate's Amalgam reality exist within a contained vessel and gave the vessel to Access for safe keeping.

Notes

  • The Marvel Encyclopedia: Fantastic Four designated the Amalgam Universe as Earth-692. Re-numbered Earth-9602 in Alternate Universes 2005.
