J.R. (Jeannie) Rasmussen is a writer, and winner of the Strange New Worlds writing competition. She lives in Reno, Nevada.

In Fiction

J. R. Rasmussen was an ancestor of time-travelling con man Berlinghoff Rasmussen. She encountered her descendant when he landed his stolen time-travel pod on her pool deck. The two of them then traveled to the year 1964, where they shared their first-hand knowledge of the 23rd and 24th centuries with television writer Gene Roddenberry.

Later, the two offered their research services directly to the producers of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Voyager. J. R. continued to do so even after Berlinghoff was killed in an auto accident.

J. R. resigned her position and forswore time travel in 1999, after receiving a vision from a Bajoran Orb of herself and Wesley Crusher sharing an encounter on Risa. (TNG short story: "Research")
