From DC Database

Invulnerability is the ability to withstand any amount of physical damage, pressure, or harmful force of any kind, causing little if any harm or pain to the individual gifted with this power. Things like knifes or bullets will not pentrate the skin, and punches or kicks will cause no pain. The skin and exposed areas of the body become resistant to damage, either from the the very cells becoming highly durable, or some kind of physically projected force field that protects the body. The amount of invulnerability can differ between indiviuals, from being completely invulnerable to any and all forces, to slightly invulnerable to specific things.

Notes

Shiro Tagachi under Invulnerability in Sunjiang District

Invulnerability is a passive skill used by various creatures throughout Guild Wars. Creatures affected by Invulnerability cannot be attacked, cannot be the target of skills, do not take damage, and do not suffer from degeneration.

  • Attempting to attack or use a skill on an invulnerable creature causes the following message to be displayed:
    "You cannot attack. (Invulnerability)"
  • Skills used against an invulnerable creature will not fail, rather, they will not activate at all and thus incur no cost, energy or otherwise.
  • The only way to affect invulnerable creatures is through non-targeted skills or traps that steal health or cause conditions, a list of which can be found below.
  • NPCs who aggro on invulnerable creatures will become stuck in a loop, continuously attempting to attack or use skills.Henchmen/heroes can be made to break aggro by using the command flags on the compass, and pets can be pulled away by setting their status to "heel".

(Redirected to Power-ups in GTA 2 article)

From Grand Theft Wiki

Power-ups in Grand Theft Auto 2 encompass a variety of pickups that primarily alter the player's behavior, grant them temporary or permanent benefits that can aid the player during missions, dire situations, or simply for fun.

Power-ups can be acquired via two methods, by either finding them in specific locations in the city, or by crushing cars. The former is usually less effective, as all power-ups, with the exception of the armor and health pickups, will not respawn after being acquired.

List of powerups

The number of power-ups in GTA 2 are significantly expanded from that of GTA 1, increasing from GTA 1's six to fifteen in GTA 2.

Name Pickup icon HUD icon Description
Armor
Permanent protection for the player against gunfire, fire, and even explosions. Each amror pickup contains 10 health points, the equivalent of the player's 10-point health. Armor does not protect the player from car explosions if the player is in the car, falls from great heights, or arrests by the police.
Double Damage
Temporary perk that doubles the amount of damage that the player's gunfire can inflict; has no effect on Rocket Launchers, Grenades, Molotov Cocktails, or vehicle bombs.
Fast Reload
Momentarily increases frequency of firearms discharge.
Invisibility
Temporarily renders the player invisible to hostiles, including the police or gang members.
Invulnerability*
Temporarily renders the player immune to any damage for one minute, except electrical damage from the ElectroGun or ElectroFingers, plunges into water, car explosions if the player is in the car or falls from great heights. The asterisk at the end of the name denotes that the pickup has conditions, such as the aforementioned ineffectiveness from certain forms of damage.
ElectroFingers
Temporarily grants the player the ability to electrically shock nearby pedestrians while in direct contact. Sustained contact will eventually kill the player's target.
Get Outta Jail Free Card
Exempts the player from penalties imposed if the player is arrested, such as a deduction of one score multiplier and the lost of weapons. Only one can be carried at a time.
Health
None; indicated by health bar.
Restores the player's health to a full five hearts.
Cop Bribe
None; indicated by disappearance of wanted level on HUD, if any.
Eliminates the player's wanted level.
Respect!
None; indicated by respect meter.
Improves the player's standard with all three gangs of each district.
Instant Access
None.
Grants the player a group of four bodyguards armed with Pistols or Dual Pistols, who will protect the player from hostiles or law enforcers. Players can only receive a maximum of four bodyguards as additional Instant Access pickups will only restore the bodyguards' health and resurrect those who were killed. This pickup is only available in multiplayer.
Life
None; indicated by life counter.
A "1 up". Adds an additional life to the player.
Multiplier
None; indicated by multiplier counter.
Adds an additional point multiplier to the player.
Kill Frenzy
None.
Triggers a Kill Frenzy rampage minigame.
GTA2 Badge
None.
Hidden packages in the form of GTA 2's logo that unlocks bonus levels in GTA 2. There are 50 in total.

Invincibility is an equipment featured in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST. It gives the user a brief period of invulnerability, lasting for about 10 seconds. In order to obtain it, the player is required to kill a Brute Chieftain without having it activated, and in some rare cases, it can be found just lying around in certain levels. Like the Gravity Hammer is to the Fist of Rukt, this equipment originates from Tartarus's Modified Invincibility.

Contents

Operation

When activated, the player is covered in shining white bands. It is known to be possessed by all Brute Chieftains that wield a Gravity Hammer unhindered, but not the Brute War Chieftains. Shooting them when it is activated is simply useless, as you cannot harm them in any way. In Campaign, it can be found on some dead Brute Chieftains that haven't used the power-up, but this is a rare occurrence, as they will usually activate it the instant they are attacked. In addition to being obtainable from dead Brute Chieftains, there is an Invincibility in the level "Halo" on Easy, Normal, and Heroic difficulties. After going up the staircase, face the middle of the door, then turn around the other way and walk into the tunnel. This makes the battle with 343 Guilty Spark much easier, since you cannot get hit by the powerful beam.

It has a similar appearance to the Cloaking equipment, except that it glows a gold color, rather than a cool blue color. Its symbol on the HUD is two overlapping, intersecting ovals with a dot at the center.

It is not present in Multiplayer, unless you edit game-play options where you can make players invincible. However, do note that the Guardians can still kill you, apart from them your only real danger is from being assassinated from behind.

Disadvantages

  • Players or AIs who have activated the Invincibility equipment can still be killed by assassination, get smashed by falling objects, or fall to their death from a great height. Also, the Invincibility can be drained by enemy Infection Forms.[verification needed]
  • It only lasts for about 10 seconds, so it should only be used as a last resort, or when entering a particularly difficult part of a level.
  • It is still visible even with the aid of cloaking or Active Camouflage.

Trivia

  • The Invincibility symbol resembles a Helium atom. This may be because the power that is exerted by this equipment can be compared to that of an atom, (or sub-atomic and elementary particle) when disintegrated, 'split', or charged.
  • If you make the Arbiter an enemy by killing him/allies, and use the Invincibility, he can still kill you with one plasma bolt.
  • In Halo 3: ODST, Invincibility makes Chieftains glow an aquamarine color, instead of the original white.
  • Also in Halo 3: ODST, Chieftains tend to activate their invincibility the moment any heavy weapon hits them, thus negating or toning down its effect.
  • You cannot acquire this power up in Halo 3: ODST or outside of Halo 3's Campaign.
  • Brute Chieftains who have activated their invincibility can still be assassinated.

Invulnerability is a Resistance powerset. It is characterized by high all around resistance compared to other defense sets. Tankers have access to this set as one of their primary powersets, while Brutes and Scrappers can use it as one of their secondary powersets.

Invulnerability gives you incredible abilities to resist damage and other effects. Its resistance to physical damage is superior, however, Invulnerability offers no protection from Psionic attacks.

History

  • Unyeilding was originally called Unyielding Stance and caused the character to be immobilized, a true stance. This was changed in Issue 3.[1]
    • Unyeilding has -Defense which was compensated for by Invincibility's +Defense, and countered by Tough Hide.
