Indiana is one of fifty states of the former United States located on the planet Earth, as far as it is known in the early 21st century. [1] The city of Indianapolis was once the state capital city of the state, though by 2525, Chicago has grown so large as to encompass northern Indiana and parts of other states, known collectively as "The Zone."[2]

Admitted to the United States December 11, 1816. Indiana is a diverse state with a few large urban areas and a number of smaller industrial cities. It is known for the Indianapolis 500 automobile race, held annually over the Memorial Day weekend, and a strong basketball tradition, often called Hoosier Hysteria. Residents of Indiana are called Hoosiers.
Indiana was an Alaskan malamute dog owned by George Lucas in the 1970s. Indiana was the inspiration for the character of Chewbacca,[1] and later became the source of Indiana Jones' name.
In the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr. admits to having taken for himself the name of the family dog, Indiana, of whom he had very fond memories.
