Imzadi (pronounced em-ZAH-dee) was a Betazoid word which closely translated into English as "beloved", and was frequently used as a term of endearment. (TNG episodes: "Encounter at Farpoint", "Haven", "Shades of Gray", "Violations", "Second Chances", "Thine Own Self", "Skin of Evil", Star Trek: Nemesis)

When William T. Riker and Deanna Troi met each other for the first time for several years on the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D, Troi called him imzadi telepathically. (TNG episode: "Encounter at Farpoint")

Background Information

Other terms with similar meanings are Lal, Hindi for "beloved", and t'hy'la, in the Vulcan language. (TNG episode: "The Offspring", TOS novelization: Star Trek: The Motion Picture)
