Humans are a race of humanoids native to Earth. They are also referred to as Tellurians by some races such as the Androgums and Lurmans, which refers to Tellus, another name for Earth. According to Mesanth, the word "human" can refer to any human-like creature, so a more specific term, like Earthon, must be used to refer to the inhabitants of Earth. (NSA: Shining Darkness) Neither of these terms, however, have been widely used. The pejorative term Earthling is sometimes used.

Humans are special in the universe, since they have an innate skill with time travel, rivalling that of even the Time Lords. (PDA: The Quantum Archangel)
Innate psychic abilities are rare but not unknown. Many Humans had telepathic powers, though in nearly all cases this was suppressed or weakened. (NA: The Left-Handed Hummingbird) Individual humans might display such psychic powers as psychometry, telepathy, or time-sensitivity. (DW: Planet of the Spiders, Image of the Fendahl, The Unquiet Dead) Despite this, Humans have little in the way of telepathic emissions and were difficult to track telepathically. (NA: Blood Heat)
Other species had a variety of traits which they ascribed to Humans.
The Doctor praised the species for their indomitable spirit (DW: The Ark in Space, DW: Utopia) and for their daring explorer spirit. (DW: The Impossible Planet). On the other hand, he also believed they were capable of amazing cruelty (DW: The Christmas Invasion), as well as an innate talent for self-deception (DW: Remembrance of the Daleks). Whether by accident or intent, all but a very few of the Doctor's many companions have been human and, specifically, humans from Earth.
The War Lords considered Humans the most aggressive and war-like species in all of Mutter's Spiral and hoped to conquer the galaxy with them. (DW: The War Games)
The Veltrochni thought Humans were a stubborn species, but very vicious. They also knew them for their trait of banding together against common enemies. (MA: The Dark Path)
Humans evolved due to the influence of a variety of species, such as the Silurians, (BFA: Bloodtide), the Fendahl (DW: Image of the Fendahl) and the Dæmons (DW: The Dæmons). It is known that the Silurians caused the development of a racial fear, while the Fendahl caused the development of much of Humanity's cruelty and capacity for evil.
At some point after the 20th century, some of Humanity's latent psychic powers were awakened using special drugs. (NA: The Left-Handed Hummingbird)
Early in the 21st century, the entire human race (or, to be precise, the 6 billion-plus humans present on Earth at the time) were temporarily transformed into genetic and physical duplicates of The Master and dubbed the Master Race. This was later undone by the Time Lord Rassilon. (DW: The End of Time)
By the 26th century, Human genetic engineering eliminated wisdom teeth. (BNA: Dry Pilgrimage)
By the 51st century, Humans engineered themselves advanced pheromones which made them naturally nice-smelling and attractive to others. (TW: Fragments)
By the year 5,000,000,000, interbreeding and evolution had resulted in there being only one "pure" human left, Cassandra O'Brien.Δ17, although this individual no longer had a recognizable human form due to the life-extending surgeries she had undergone. Although believed killed soon after the destruction of the Earth (DW: The End of the World), she survived, only to die several decades later after a failed attempt at transferring her consciousness to Rose Tyler (DW: New Earth).
Despite O'Brien being described as the last human, the human race in some form continued. At some point in their history, the Humans spent millions of years as a gas, and also spent time as downloads before eventually re-evolving into humanoid form. (DW: Utopia)
Ultimately, Humans would continue to exist until the year 100,000,000,000,000, becoming one of the universe's last surviving races; by this point they had reevolved to be virtually indistinguishable from the humans the Doctor encountered during the 21st century and earlier. (DW: Utopia)
The last known Humans, transported to the world called Utopia and under the influence of the Master, underwent one final evolution into a machine-clad race called the Toclafane. The Master attempted to conquer the Earth of the early 21st century with the Toclafane, but after the Doctor and his colleagues were able to reverse time, the Toclafane invasion was erased from history, and it was expected that the Toclafane, no longer able to travel through time and space, would eventually die out, resulting in the final extinction of humanity. (DW: The Sound of Drums, Last of the Time Lords)

Humans are a species that originates from Earth. Humans are sometimes referred to as Terrans. Some people use the term "Terran" to refer to things or institutions associated with humanity (Terran cuisine, Terran literature, Terran art, etc). Other humanoid lifeforms have been known to refer to Humans as "Earthers", while the Ferengi language accents the English word to, "HewMon." Saurians have dubbed them in their indigenous language as, "Those Created in the Image of God". In some instances, humans have also been called "Earth creatures" and "Earthlings" and a human male called "Earthman." (TAS episode: "Yesteryear"; Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, ST novel: The Return, ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation; TNG video game: The Transinium Challenge)

Revealed as the most genetically "basic" of humanoid life, throughout the known galaxy, in part from the Preserver theory. (TOS episode: "The Paradise Syndrome"} One of the many similarities shared between this race and Vulcanoids has to do with their biological sync with seven standard years. For average humans, every 7 years the cell count is completely replaced within the body. Except for permanent ones, such as egg, brain and spinal cells, the tissues are re-generated after this passage of time. (TOS novel: Ex Machina ch.1 pg.8) The bipedal body shape (TNG episode: "The Chase") was created/evolved for its simple function, yet diversatility. This, in theory, was what made the notion of android life more easy to relate to. (TNG episode: "Datalore") Organic, also known as carbon based, (TOS movie: Star Trek: The Motion Picture) Terrans are the true manifestation of their homeworld, Terra. Both are made up of 75% water. (TOS episode: "The Omega Glory", TNG episode: "Home Soil")
The philosophy of most Humans revolves around self-enlightenment and the bettering of society as a whole. A Human's moral goal is the achievement of knowledge through peaceful exploration, as recognized in Starfleet's Prime Directive of non-interference with other cultures.
Humans have found a sense of balance in their lives and attitudes. Compassion, courage, and intellect that have been developed into an ideal combination, with ambitions of further self-improvement. Greed and selfishness have faded on a mass scale as technological progress opened humanity's possibilities. Deviations from these ideals are rare and considered abnormal behavior for humans.
Many alien cultures have found humanity confusing, due (in part) to the fact that humans are mostly very hesitant to engage in conflict, but would fight with lethal force as a last resort. This inherent conflicting nature made Earth an ideal choice in mediating disputes and finding common ground in interstellar affairs, where the more experienced Vulcans had failed.
Throughout history, by their own means once faster the light engines were known to the race and by aliens intervention previously Humans have spread out into the galaxy. Many humans have forged colonies, during the early Human expansion from Earth the many members of the Masai culture found a new home on the planet Eristas. (EV comic: "Flesh of My Flesh")
The majority of human colonies and settlements are part of the Federation but some, such as the colony of Europa Nova, maintain independence. (DS9 novel: Demons of Air and Darkness) In 2254, renegade Humans in the Marrat Nebula region joined a brigand to attack Starbase 13, concerned that a Starfleet operation, Project Pharos, which the Starbase was coordinating would curtail their illegal activities in the region. (EV comic: "The Fires of Pharos")

Human beings, humans or man (Origin: 1590–1600; < L homō man; OL hemō earthly being, also Homo sapiens — Latin: "wise human" or "knowing human"), are bipedal primates in the family Hominidae. DNA evidence indicates that modern humans originated in Africa about 200,000 years ago. Humans have a highly developed brain, capable of abstract reasoning, language, introspection and problem solving. This mental capability, combined with an erect body carriage that frees the forelimbs (arms) for manipulating objects, has allowed humans to make far greater use of tools than any other species. Humans are distributed worldwide, large populations inhabiting every continent on Earth except Antarctica. The human population on Earth is greater than 6.7 billion, as of July, 2008. As of 2008, humans are listed as a species of least concern for extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Humans are a race that evolved on the planet Earth. Although generally considered a backward and unintelligent species, certain humans began to play a prominent role in galactic affairs. The New Gods have long been fascinated with humans. Darkseid of Apokolips believes that humans have the Anti-Life Equation stored within their minds, while Highfather Izaya of New Genesis knows a prophecy that says Earth would see the rise of the Fifth World, and humans would play a vital part. The Guardian Ganthet claims that Earth is the most emotionally diverse and rich planet in the universe, most likely due to the humans.
What could be considered a sub-species of Humans are Metahumans, a term coined by the alien Dominators, and used to describe any human being with what are commonly described as "super powers". The prefix "meta-" simply means "beyond", describing persons and abilities beyond human limits.
There are roughly 1.3 million metahumans on Earth, 99.5% of which are considered "nuisance-level" (such as kids who can bend spoons with their mind and the old lady "who keeps hitting at Powerball"). The other 0.5% (6500) are what Checkmate and the O.M.A.C.s consider alpha and beta level threats. For example, Superman and Wonder Woman were categorized as alpha level, while Metamorpho was considered a beta. [1]
A term to describe a sub-race of magic-using humans in the DC Universe. According to Doctor Mist [2], the Homo magi evolved in a parallel but separate line, alongside Homo sapiens. Homo magi and Metahumans account for most of the superhuman abilities in the DC Universe.
Atlantean is the term generally applied to the collective groups of citizens who reside in the undersea continent known as Atlantis. Smaller, more distinctive subspecies such as the Tuatha De Danann refer to themselves simply by their tribe name, and do not typically refer to themselves as Atlanteans.

Despite the existence of various mutations (most notably, ghouls, super mutants, and trogs), normal humans or normals are still the most common sapient creatures on the planet. In the aftermath of the Great War humanity was changed forever, and both the plots of Fallout and Fallout 2 make note of the changed nature of the humans living in the wastes. Perhaps the only true humans left are those that are still locked inside of some unknown Vault. Most people in the Fallout world can still be considered human, even though many of them have minor mutations, like additional toes, greenish skin, dwarfism or complete lack of hair. Still, they are nowhere near ghouls or super mutants. Varying degrees of cybernetics are also prevalent in the world of Fallout, though these are mostly present as perks and rarely is there any visible indication that cybernetics are present.

Sub-species would be any group of humans that are different from normal humans but not as much as supermutants or ghouls. Known human sub-species created due to mutation/evolution over generations include: slags, trogs, and beastlords. It can also be argued that cyborgs exist as a sub-species, though rarely in vast numbers. Cybernetics are visible in game as items, images, and perks/feats that can be earned through actions instead of level ups.
In the SPECIAL character system, humans have 40 Character Points to divide between their Primary Statistics. Note that, in Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout 3, you can only play a human character. Fallout Tactics allowed the player to control other races (see Fallout Tactics races), even though you could only start as a human.
Human NPC-s suffer extra damage from headshots both in the VATS system, and in free fire mode. Prioritize your targets according to the weapons they carry. Any grenades the NPC-s carry can be detonated with a well placed shot.
Shooting the enemy's weapons is a very effective way of disarming humanoids, as the weapons they carry are often of inferior quality requiring only a few shots, and their hand to hand damage is negligible.

Humans, also known dialectally as Humes (ヒュム Hyumu), are a recurring race that appears throughout the Final Fantasy series.
Based almost entirely off of the real-world species, Humans are usually the most numerous and politically dominant sentient species in any given Final Fantasy world, particularly in the main series.
As the most common sentient species, they are often considered to be a standard or average to which the biology, psychology, and culture of other species and races are compared.
A rather potent race, Humans have been witnessed occupying, or at least being capable of participating in, most Jobs in the Final Fantasy worlds.

Typically, Human's can define and categorize themselves by their place of origin (Spirans, Galbadians) or by their appearances (such as skin colour), however there are Humans, Human races, or types of Human, that possess unique classifications largely due to possessing certain unique abilities. These alternate Human races are:
Aside from Humans or Humes, Final Fantasy worlds are often populated with humanoid, or near-human, races that have varying degrees of resemblance to true Humans (as based on real life).
As an example the Al Bhed race in Final Fantasy X look almost entirely human but for their distinctive spiral-shaped pupils that deviate from the appearance of a typical Human, making them, instead, "near-human".
Alternatively the classification of "near-human" can also fall upon those of mixed-bloodlines or on those who have been "created in their image" (eg. Genomes).
The term "humanoid" is reserved towards those that only possess Human characteristics in a less apparant manner. An example of a "humanoid" race would be the Ronso or the Mithra, both possessing human-like bodies but overall are entirely different from Humans.
Many other "near-Human" or "humanoid" races exist. These include:

In Vana'diel, Humans are called Humes, originating from the Bastok region but having spread to the farthest reaches of Vana'diel. The race is characterized by its equally balanced abilities, moderate intelligence, and high level of skill in numerous areas. This combination of traits has played a large role in Bastok's growth into a prosperous nation of technology and industry.
The Hume race has balanced stats that make it able to play any job well, but not as well as one of the races that specializes in that job. The home kingdom for Humes is Bastok.

Called Humes, they are the most common race in Ivalice. They have no real special abilities, and have the second shortest life span of any race in Ivalice, next to the Aegyl. Despite this, they have managed to set up large Empires and Kingdoms all over Ivalice.

Known as the Hyur, they have the largest population in all of Eorzea. They came in multiple migratory waves from neighboring continents and islands, bringing with them their sophisticated technology and complex ethos. Two groups now exist among the Hyur - Highlanders, those who live in mountainous areas, and Midlanders, those who live in lower elevations. It is currently unknown of there is a statistical different between the two types of Hyur.
In the time of Final Fantasy Tactics, Humes are the only race left in Ivalice, all the other having gone extinct long before the game's start.

Because of their nature, Humes are some of the most adaptable characters in Ivalice. While they can't access extremely strong classes like the Viera's Assassin or the Bangaa's Dragoon, they have the highest number of jobs to choose from. They are also the only race able to get the S-Ability Doublesword, which allows a unit to wield two weapons, so long as they are both 1-hand (bows, for example, are not affected by Doublesword, though Rods can be.) Human exclusive jobs include: Soldier, Paladin, Ninja, Hunter, Fighter and Blue Mage.
The Totema of the Humes is Mateus. Mateus is the most powerful of the Totema, but is also the last one obtained.

Since Tactics A2 is a direct sequel of Tactics Advance, the Humes have very similar properties to the last game. They still have access to more balanced jobs, and two new jobs: Parivir and Seer.
Humes can be obtained in these locations during Blackfrost or Skyfrost:

One of the most widespread and influential species in the world of Tyria. They are the dominant species on the continents of Tyria, Cantha, and Elona. The origin of humanity is unknown. The earliest mention of humanity is their settlement of the northern coastline of Cantha in 786 BE, however it is not clear if they arrived from elsewhere or originated in Cantha but did not have permanent settlements prior to that date.
Humans first appeared on the Tyrian continent nearly 1300 years ago (the year 205 BE in the Mouvelian Calendar). Prior to their arrival, Tyria had been in balance under the control of a powerful serpent race. Humans quickly rose to prominence and the serpent race withdrew into the Crystal Desert and is now only known as the Forgotten.
Humans formed three powerful kingdoms: Ascalon (founded 100 BE), Orr (founded 2 AE) and Kryta (founded 300 AE). Unfortunately, their history has always been marred by conflict and struggle for dominance. Most recently, this was manifest by the Guild Wars which lasted for over 50 years and ended only due to the terrible threat of the Charr invasion.
The three kingdoms (Ascalon, Orr and Kryta) are merely three broad groupings of humans. Within each kingdom and across kingdoms, humans can be found aligned to certain factions, as follows:
The people of Kryta are ruled by the White Mantle, who have replaced the old Krytan royal family.
The Lionguard were the elite guard of the deposed Krytan royal family. They have now been relegated to constables of the peace by The White Mantle.
A small group of Krytan rebels, known as the Shining Blade, seek to bring down the White Mantle.
Under direct control of King Adelbern, the Ascalon Army is charged with defending the remaining Ascalon settlements and citizens.
Led by Prince Rurik, The Ascalon Vanguard agressively pushes into Charr-held territory in an attempt to free Ascalon from the invaders.
Led by Captain Langmar, The Ebon Vanguard is a group of survivors from Ascalon that fled their way north into the Charr Homelands after the searing.
Human settlement on the Canthan continent began around 1700 years ago. While it is said that their development were unhindered by the Forgotten, it is unclear if the two races were ever in contact.
The Celestial Ministry is the main bureaucratic organization in the Canthan government. The ministry has grown corrupt and inefficient, and the emperor is apparently unable to reform the bureaucracy.
The Crimson Skull, Am Fah and Jade Brotherhood are Canthan guilds involved in criminal activities.
The Xunlai, involved in Storage and tournament sponsorship, is presumed to originate in Cantha.
Luxons are one of two rival factions on the Canthan Continent. They are at perpetual war with the Kurzicks, and are not part of the empire led by the emperor, since they broke away from it. They live in the Jade Sea territory as well as the mountains and hills.
Kurzicks are the enemies of the Luxons. Like the Luxons, they separated from the empire and are their own sovereign entity. Much of their territory is located in the Echovald Forest.
In 200 BE The first Primeval King establishes rule in Elona from Fahranur.
Currently led by Spearmarshal Kormir, the Sunspears are an elite order dedicated to protecting the entire nation of Elona. Although their headquarters reside in Istan, they do not belong to any one province, and expect the freedom to travel wherever in Elona their protection is required.
Led by direct descendants of Warmarshal Turai Ossa, the Kournan military is the might of Kourna.
The wealthy and cultured province of Vabbi is ruled by three merchant princes.
Due to the ridiculously inhospitable nature of this region, humans do not reside here. Various forms of undead can be found here, however, and it is possible for the living to cross the Desolation with the aid of giant wurms. This was not always the case; the Desolation includes the ruins of human settlements such as Morah and Sahlahja.
Rebellious, sea-faring pirates, corsairs are often encountered in Istan and on the coasts of Kourna.
The following creatures used to be human, or are descended from humans.

Human Beings or Humans or Man (Latin: Homo sapiens sapiens, meaning Wise Man) are a sentient subspecies within the Genus Homo and part of the primate family. They were the second(after the forerunners) sentient species to develop advanced methods of living on their home planet of Earth, fossil records date Human existence at about 200,000 years. They are rated a Tier 3 species on the Forerunner Technological Achievement system.[1] Although it is possible they may have adopted a higher Tier 2 during and after the Human-Covenant war by means of weapons research and development.
Contents |
Throughout their existence, Humans have developed their civilization by engaging in food production on a larger scale, developing language, developing religion and political philosophies, and exhibiting telescoping technological and infrastructural development. They were studying the stars long before they were able to travel out of their atmosphere. After succeeding in space colonization, the human race was able to terraform and inhabit other planets besides Earth, but the human race is under pressure due to the discovery of the caste-driven Covenant after several centuries of space travel. The total population at the end of the war is unknown.
Homo sapiens sapiens were believed to have appeared in Earth's fossil record between approximately 100,000 and 200,000 years ago (there was another subspecies of Homo sapiens known as Homo sapiens idaltu; this subspecies became extinct, but was believed to have lived as long as 160,000 years previous). While the exact origin of humanity is a hotly contested paleontological debate, it is likely that the first humans evolved from a genus of upright ape-like hominids called Australopithecus (likely Australopithecus afarensis).
The current human race is not the only humanoid species known to live on Earth, but the Homo sapiens sapiens are believed to have either displaced or merely outlasted all other branches of the genus, including Homo neanderthals and Homo sapiens idaltu. Homo sapiens sapiens usually stand 6' tall, though this varies depending on nutrition, genetics and other factors. Members of the species, like some Covenant species, are four-limbed and bipedal, which enables them to walk upright on two legs and use their arms and hands (including opposable thumbs) to hold and manipulate objects such as tools.
The development of human civilization as humans recognize it today started from the ability to harness the growth cycle of plants, producing edible food-energy in a systemic fashion. This time is referred to as the Neolithic Revolution, which occurred first on Earth over 10,000 years ago and soon spread to disparate human groups. The stability that came from systemic agriculture allowed for more permanent settlements and the development of ever-more-complex tools to further benefit the members of the species.
Innovated toolmaking and the domestication of other species on Earth gave human populations greater and greater power to expand their populations, and trade ensured the diffusion of new technologies to adjacent groups. These exploding populations led to the formation of the first genuine civilizations over 8,500 years ago. The sites of such early cultures are believed to have formed in Southwest Asia and Asia Minor, and appeared elsewhere soon after. The infrastructure of civilizations continued to expand and grow in complexity as innovative technologies and larger populations allowed for increasing food-energy availability. Economic, political and scientific advancement continued to quicken as this species was able to automate many tasks in the Industrial Revolution.
This automation gave birth to the Digital Revolution, in which computing machines allowed scientific discovery and technological development to accelerate with explosive speed. Larger urban centers and tools for civilian and military uses were able to develop, as were more modern economic and political systems. As these systems developed further, the species was able to enjoy longer, more pro-creative, and more comfortable lives, virtually impervious to other creatures from whose midst they sprang. Thus-unchecked, human population growth eventually led to the presence of several billions more humans on Earth than could be comfortably sustained, ultimately leading to a high demand for humans to expand out-world.
Humans evolved from primates somewhere in East Africa, in which humans started forming Hunter-Gatherer societies during the first hundred thousands years of existence. These tribes were extremely inquisitive and were the first to engage in forms of Communication and Toolmaking (despite the fact the genus homo has been undergoing this for thousands of years before humans existed, human society was much different compared to their closer relatives). Highly mobile, they quickly spread to almost every major land formation except Antarctica, and quickly became the dominant creature on the planet. Approximately 10,000 years ago, human society began to emerge in the form of civilizations, featuring forms of farming, fishing, mining, metallurgy, and creating laws, language, and religions - often radically different depending on region - though all would share several basic fundamental aspects. The use of metallurgy for military weapons and defenses allowed these cultures to spread and conquer other lands in the name of their own, ultimately leading to the dominant rise of European nations and, in turn, to intercontinental Euro-Imperialistic colonies. Effects from the political schisms that these nations would later have with their own colonies however would have remarkable long-term ramifications for the course of mankind. Ramifications that earlier ages of humans could have never imagined, as the concept of democratic rule by Constitutional Law over the long established systems of centralized government monarchy would slowly gain momentum.
The 18th through 20th centuries were times of drastic change for countries known as the "Industrial Revolution". As an unintended result of major political and economic ramifications due to the rise of constitutional governments and refined capitalist resource management techniques, important inventions such as the automobile, electrical devices like the radio, and aircraft went into widespread use at previously unheard of rates for human innovations. Revolutionary progress in humanity's understanding of medicine and chemistry was also being made during this era of turning points. Such important chemical engineering advancements included anesthesia which dramatically enhanced all surgical practices, and plastics that could cheaply fulfill an enormous amount of material roles (with the better preservation of food being one of its greatest functions). Prior to such chemical and medical advances, average humans at the beginning of this time span could expect a lifespan of approximately 45 years, but towards its end, thanks to the introduction of antibiotics and other medicines combined with better food production and preservation, the age-old scourge of widespread plague and starvation was becoming virtually a thing of the past, and enabling people to live well beyond 80 and even into 100 years of age.
Essentially, Mankind was growing ever more efficient in how it applied itself to previous sciences and arts, and the art of the military would prove no exception to this pattern. There would be a rapid change in armed conflicts, starkly different from the primitive melee-oriented wars of the past; after 2 massive wars within the first 50 years of the 20th century, humanity saw the invention of such technologies as superior firearms and automatic weapons, radar, tanks, missiles, jet engines, and ultimately the atomic bomb, which became the most powerful weapon then known. Atomic bombs ultimately led to nuclear warheads, which eventually became key components in human arsenals in the brutal war against the Covenant.
In the next 60 years the superpower nations of the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (succeeded by the Commonwealth of Independent States) became highly competitive, leading to a period of military and cultural tension known as the "Cold War"; an arms race by which the lethality of humanity's relatively new warfare technologies would be further refined upon in their destructive potential and precision, complimented with ever evolving battlefield doctrines and tactics as both nations sought to intimidate the other, with the newly developed nuclear weapons playing a large part in this period. In the 1950s, the Soviet Union launched the earliest satellite and sent the first human, Yuri Gagarin, into space, officially making humans space faring, and entering Tier 5 in the Technological Achievement Tiers. The United States successfully launched the first human to the moon, and eventually surpassed the Soviet Union's space faring and military production capabilities, leaving their doctrines as the ones that would heavily influence the UNSC in later centuries.
Additionally, with the creation of the Internet in the late 20th century, achievements from that era would dramatically revolutionize communication and data processing, further streamlining mankind's rate of technological progress. World politics also changed, with the early history of the United Nations beginning during this time period. The religiously neutral nature of many of these constitutional style governments also saw a relative diminish in the influence ideological dogma had upon a society, with scientific and logical explanations for phenomena and methodology rising in importance, although religion would remain a staple of human societies. In the later end of the 20th century, satellites were now using solar energy over primitive battery sources to power itself (as seen with earlier models) thus leading to a very long lifetime. And with this, satellites saw a much more massive and broader usage as means to send and retrieve data and communications, and additionally a method of navigation to both normal civilians as well as military purposes. Although much of the technology used during this time is disregarded as "primitive" by the standards of the 26th century, they were all somehow a precursor to all of technologies utilized later by the UNSC.
The species was able to explore the space immediately surrounding their home planet in the 20th century, as the population began to advance beyond the capacity of the planet to comfortably sustain their civilization. The subsequent conflict over resources, economics, religion and politics on Earth gave way to numerous wars. Furthermore these tensions put great pressure on the species in the beginning of the twenty-third century, and the transnational organization that became the United Nations Space Command engaged in more frequent space colonization and sought to represent the entire species, even though no one state ever previously ruled the entire human race. The development of Slipspace travel in 2291 helped the UNSC engage in spreading the human race beyond their home solar system, relieving the serious ecological pressure on the home world.
Simultaneously, this expansion was also to usher in promising new opportunities for humanity, as some of these colonies, such as planet Reach with its bountiful titanium deposits, could offer abundant stores of raw materials that may had otherwise been considerably unique and scarce on Earth. With the initial advent of interplanetary trade driving down the costs of what may had once been an expensive implementation of their technology - such as the forging of space-worthy ships and naval vessels - the effects from these carefully implemented first colonization projects helped to ensure that interstellar trade, travel and communication were to be more commonplace amongst the general populace in the ensuring centuries, eventually granting humanity the capacity to expand to hundreds of worlds and establish colonies at enhanced rates.
The species as a whole was finally pushed into major conflict when, after several centuries of spreading throughout many solar systems and inhabiting hundreds of worlds, they discovered the violent, genocidal, theocratic Covenant, and were forced into the war covered by the Halo series. As the decades-long war wore on, the human species gained the reputation as a worthy adversary against the Covenant, despite the fact that they were technologically and numerically inferior.Humans could hold out on ground combat and often defeated the Covenant, but the Covenant in turn fled to space where they had virtually undisputed supremacy and glassed the planet.
Humans have been able to show great bravery when facing insurmountable odds. Some of the members of the Covenant wonder why the Hierarchs had refused to allow the humans to join them, as they had been able to hold steadfast even when outmatched in almost every way. However, despite great courage and brilliance, the future seemed dark for the survival of the human race as the Covenant continued to wipe out their colonies, marching ever closer to Earth. On October 20th 2552, Earth was found. In the ensuing battles over possession of Earth, humanity suffered heavy casualties.
March 3rd, 2553,[2] saw the end of the Human-Covenant War as a victory[3] for humanity and their new found Sangheili allies - the majority of the Covenant Loyalist military having been defeated at Delta Halo by the Sangheilian Fleet, and the rest annihilated by the joint Elite-UNSC forces at the Ark. This victory came in time to save the human home world, thanks chiefly to the actions of the Arbiter and Spartan John-117.
In early stages, human technology and knowledge advanced through simple trial and error in an inefficient manner, hampering faster progress. Although humans had developed writing very early on in their history, it wasn't until the invention of printing that information and ideas could be mass-communicated in an effective manner. The development of the scientific method in later conjunction with improved and more efficient capitalistic resource management techniques during the lessons of the "Industrial Revolution" resulted in stark accelerations in the development of technologies and the acquisition of knowledge. New technologies were experimented and explored with advanced knowledge of underlying principles as talented individuals were better organized and better supplied, allowing extremely accurate and fast improvements to be made with minimized trials and costs. Such methods of thought and organization are a hallmark of humanity which differs from the Covenant who, lacking proper researching methods, would simply copy and reverse-engineer technology from ancient Forerunner artifacts via the Engineers, whilst generally having no understanding of the underlying concepts themselves. Thus it it is said that the Covenant are "imitative" while the Humans are "innovative" as the war progresses.
In the 26th century human technology did not advance equally for every concept previously explored. The most basic technologies (such as the ballistic weaponry and the wheel) had undergone few principal changes, the explanation for this being their proven reliability over centuries of use. The technology worked and so did not require heavy alteration or major changes. Humans however did have other great advancements such as Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engines that are capable of reaching other star systems, as well as the creation of highly sophisticated AIs that could serve to fulfill a versatile amount of roles.
It is known that in the 22nd century, Earth was deemed overpopulated, jump-starting the colonization programs of the time. After twenty seven years of war with the genocidal Covenant, the human race was brought to the brink of extinction, reduced to approximately only two hundred million.[4] Given Cortana's death count of approximately 23 billion,[5] the population of known human settlements preceding the Human-Covenant War would amount to slightly over 23 billion humans living.
Humans are mammals, and closely related to other dominant apes on the planet Earth, meaning that they are warm blooded and give birth to live offspring, and nourish their offspring with milk. They have five fingers, one including an opposable thumb, which a few Covenant species do not have. It was a major part in helping humans dominate on Earth. Unlike Elites, their circulatory system is closed and consists of one heart and a network of blood vessels and red blood due to the iron based hemoglobin of humans, as well as two lungs which breathe mainly a nitrogen-oxygen based atmosphere. Externally they have more hair than most Covenant species, but not nearly as much as Brutes. Their eyes have more pinpointed pupils, and additionally have a poor sense of hearing and smell. They are omnivorous, meaning that they will eat both meats and plants, as well as consume high calcium foods, such as the milk of other animals, in great quantities. Their bone structure is much different than a few Covenant species. They have a large calcium deposit, as well as a more developed bone structure for protecting organs, allowing them to be a perfect target for the Flood. Muscle-wise, they are leaner and possess less muscle matter, and a majority of Covenant species have the ability to pick up humans. In theory at least, physical conditioning can still negate this somewhat as even a standard UNSC marine can be witnessed flipping a turned over vehicle, and with the right enhancements and equipment, overcome their physical disadvantages to an even further extent as demonstrated by the SPARTANs.

The genus homo within the Marvel Universe is far more prolific and active than in the real world, all variations of which occur within the species homo sapiens. Blessed with no less than at least seven sub-genus entries, it stands as a far stronger and more varied species within the Marvel Universe than it could ever hope to be in the real world. The seven subspecies are:
• Ape Men – Original primitive members that evolved before the modern homo sapiens
• Homo sapiens sapiens – foolishly referred to as "humans;" possessed of no inherent powers whatsoever
• Homo sapiens superior – referred to as "mutants," and the next stage of evolution for homo sapiens sapiens; almost certainly born with superpowers and/or differing appearance
• Homo sapiens mermanus – referred to as "Atlanteans;" possessed of gills, blue or green skin, enhanced physicality
• Homo sapiens inhumanus – referred to as "Inhumans;" possessed of incredible adaptation to onset mutations of unpredictable effect, induced by a mutagenic known as the Terrigen Mist (physical appearance mutations are inherited)
• Homo sapiens aeternus – referred to as "Eternals;" possessed of near-infinite lifespans, and standard energy-manipulation powers in addition to other possible abilities
• Homo sapiens deviare – referred to as "Deviants;" possessed of deformed appearance, with each member manifesting a random mutation
The entire branching off of the species homo sapiens came with the arrival at Earth of the Celestials, the Space Gods of genetic engineering; the Celestials as a race have their origins shrouded in mystery, and are beings of phenomenal cosmic power and knowledge, but are definitely known to visit planets across the universe, enhancing the local sentient faunae, returning periodically to monitor the progress of their charges.
It was a mission of such intent that led to the creation of modern man. At some point between 400,000 years ago and the second interglacial period in the Middle Pleistocene (around 250,000 years ago) the trend in cranial expansion and the elaboration of stone tool technologies developed, providing evidence for a transition from homo erectus (meaning "upright man") to homo sapiens (meaning "wise man"); this origin/transition is speculated by human scientists as either due to a uni-regional development that spread (which seems likely, due to the general genetic homogeneity of homo sapiens sapiens) or multi-regional developments that merged.
The interesting thing is that no-one is certain quite how the homo sapiens species came to be from the different ancestors within the homo genus; it seems it was not an entirely naturally-occurring development. The homo genus was taken and experimented upon by the Celestials, creating the homo sapiens species, already with three distinct subspecies: homo sapiens aeternus, the subspecies with the genetic potential for phenomenal power and longevity; homo sapiens deviare, the subspecies possessed of some power and physical characteristics which radically change, beyond bilateral symmetry, with each generation; and the subspecies that would become homo sapiens sapiens, the supposed "baseline" subspecies which contained the potential for benevolent mutation of phenomenal capacity in its future.
It must be noted that, whilst the subspecies homo sapiens sapiens was the genetic stock from which sprung homo sapiens mermanus and homo sapiens inhumanus (by various means), the fact that these two are now sufficiently genetically distinct as to merit their own subspecies classifications seems to suggest that the same capacity for benevolent mutation found in homo sapiens sapiens (with particular reference to the "X-Gene," the gene whose manifestation in the genetic structure of an otherwise ordinary homo sapiens sapiens marks the being as homo sapiens superior) is highly unlikely, although not impossible, to be found in either subspecies.
The species forged from the "human" template by the Celestial manipulations, homo sapiens are incredibly varied in subspecies and potential, possessing a total of seven sub-genuses (although homo sapiens mermanus appeared through unknown means, homo sapiens superior evolved after the initial subspecies divisions, and homo sapiens inhumanus were in fact artificially engineered from the stock of homo sapiens sapiens by the alien Kree race. It is also possible that Vargas represents a new direction in homo sapiens). All have a standard humanoid physical morphological template, although exceptions are possible within both homo sapiens superior and homo sapiens inhumanus, and almost inevitable within homo sapiens deviare; additionally, homo sapiens mermanus are typically endowed with either blue- or green-tinted skin.
A long time ago, early versions of homo sapiens were transported to the Savage Land by an alien race called the Nuwali, where they contined to live and survive while they seems be have become extinct in the rest of the world. When descendents from the Atlantis empire discovered Savage Land, they performed genetic engineering on the primtive humans living there, resulting in animal like species like the lizard people, bird people and the amphibious fish people, or in tribes that looked like modern humans. The neanderthal looking humans called the Man Apes are the only ones left of the non-altered members of the human races in Savage Land, and it is said Ka-Zar killed all the male members of the last tribe except from a male called Maa-Gor. Because of all the different races this group has given rise to, it must be considered as an artificial sub-genus. But they all have in common that they are evolved from ancestors that were already separated from the later versions of homo sapiens, and are because of this included as a single sub species.
This subspecies of humanity, known as "humans," "flatscans," or "normals," are born without powers, and are considered the "base stock" of the Celestial altered homo sapiens. Despite their considerable inferiority when compared with both Eternals and Deviants as far as inherited power is concerned, it was homo sapiens sapiens who retained the greatest genetic potential, their DNA altered to be the most receptive to benevolent mutations of all forms. With the most robust DNA sequences (and therefore greatest potential for superhuman adaptation) of any race the Celestials have altered, mainstream humanity have remained the most populous, yet have seen offshoots (in the form of homo sapiens mermanus and homo sapiens inhumanus) and evolutions (in the form of homo sapiens superior) leading to separate subspecies, and even individual examples of stable, artificially induced mutations of the genome, such as Spider-Man, Giant-Man, or even the Incredible Hulk. These artificial benevolent mutations have been induced in a variety of ways, including direct exposure to radiation of varying types, indirect exposure to radiation, exposure to exotic particles, or exposure to a chemical agent delivered within a serum. Another ways to gain superpowers is through genetics and eugenics, like in the case with Fantomex. According to the Supreme Intelligence of Kree, all members of the human race have the potential to reach a latent evolutionary potential which includes god-like powers like "the Destiny Force", but the level and state of the present humankind makes them still too fragile and weak to survive and handle such powers.
"Humanity" in the Marvel Universe, once established as homo sapiens sapiens, developed much as it did in the real world, generally ignorant of its genetic relatives the Eternals and Deviants, and even of the few isolated cases of mutation (with the earliest recorded being the homo sapiens superior En Sabar Nur, known as Apocalypse, in 3000 B.C.) to, on the whole, develop identical cultures to those of the real world, parallel in almost every way; at least until World War II in 1939, when the appearance of superbeings became proliferated, and unable to avoid.
Changes between human cultures in the Marvel Universe and the real world since that point have entirely reflected the greater presences of superbeings, notably homo sapiens superior ("mutants"), although in recent times all metahumans have been targeted by certain bodies; this can be seen in such governmental legislations as the weakly-backed Mutant Registration Act, and the current, popular Super-Hero Registration Act, and traditional prejudices against mutants and certain other superbeings.
It is possible for those within the homo sapiens sapiens subspecies, due to their genetic potential to support benevolent mutations, to spontaneously develop a gene within the newly created zygote which endows superhuman abilities and/or appearance on the individual; however, anyone born with this "X-Gene" is automatically a member of the separate subspecies homo sapiens superior, distinguished only by the presence of a single gene. The gifts endowed by the presence of the gene can be minimal (one mutant, Jazz, simply has blue skin), to phenomenal (such as the abilities of any well-known powerful mutant hero or villain, for example, many of the X-Men, or former members of the Brotherhood of Mutants). There are any number of theories as to what can catalyze the development of the gene within an individual, ranging from sunspot activity, to parental exposure to radiation in some form; however, ultimately, the answer is unknown.
The number of so-called "mutants" within humanity as a whole has risen dramatically, and fallen almost as dramatically, since the first recorded appearance of a known mutant, 5000 years earlier, with the birth of En Sabah Nur, later known as Apocalypse. Apocalypse was a lone mutant, but almost 5000 years later, by the 1970s, there were hundreds. Due to unknown causes, the mutant population exploded within the following decades, seeing perhaps 32 million worldwide by the 1990s (the evil Cassandra Nova exterminated 16 million with her Sentinel attacks, and that was theorised to be approximately half of the mutant population). Finally, in the Decimation event of 2005, Wanda Maximoff's alteration of reality removed the powers of most of the remaining 16 million, leaving perhaps barely two hundred remaining mutants on the Earth.
The circumstances and opinions surrounding mutants as a political body have always been very much polarised, presumably because of a similar polarisation within the attitudes of the mutant community; some strove for acceptance, whilst others declared themselves "humanity's successors" and sought to take their place by force. As a result, opinions on how to deal with the mutant community have always been similarly divided. There have been attempts to exterminate mutants (with the robotic Sentinels, or the deadly Legacy Virus, amongst other things), enslave them (using the mutate process created by the Sugar Man and employed by the Genegineer of Genosha), or indeed both (such as the Weapon Plus programmes), and even appease them (such as when Magneto was given sovereign command of the country of Genosha); it has only been recently that mutants have been accepted as members of society by law, as equal to other superhumans (as evidenced by the Super-Hero Registration Act, which affects all with metahuman abilities, regardless of origin of said abilities).
However, as a side note, given the events of the series Son of M in which the depowered mutant Quicksilver restored the powers of other "fallen" mutants in the wake of the Decimation event, it seems likely that the mutant X-Gene, the presence of which denotes a being as homo sapiens superior rather than homo sapiens sapiens, either leaves a "genetic shadow" within the rest of the individual's DNA, or takes its characteristics from said DNA. However, it is more likely that both assertions are correct.
This can be stated due to evidence witnessed; the traditionally Inhuman-controlled Terrigenesis (the taking of the mutagenic Terrigen Mist) was a process designed to induce benevolent mutations to maximise the genetic potential of the individual, creating unique powers. Now, given that applying Terrigenesis to a former mutant restores powers of a similar nature to their own, it can be seen that the general genetics of an individual seem to give some shape as to which powers they will manifest (the ultimate genetic fingerprint); however, since the powers are restored at far greater level than they existed before, it seems likely that the DNA sequence of a mutant, even a former mutant, contains far more inherent power than that of a human (and almost certainly more than most Inhumans).
It is not known how the genetic deviation or offshoot from homo sapiens sapiens that is homo sapiens mermanus came to be; however, given the stable level of difference, some form of artificial adaptation would be implied – to have so many evolve these traits over a small number of generations would prove impractical, and indeed likely impossible on the sort of timescale that must be presented, given that humanity came to be mere thousands of years ago.
The actual Atlantis sunk in the "Great Cataclysm" event some 10,000 years prior to the current era, with those who would become Atlanteans first remaking it as their home approximately 2,000 years later. A largely peaceable existence has been their lot since then, at least as far as confrontation with surface-dwellers was concerned, at least until the 20th Century, which saw hostile interactions between surface-dwellers and Atlanteans, whether between the groups as a whole, or when the Atlanteans sided with the Allied Powers in World War II. However, the Atlanteans are currently at peace with the surface.
What is known is that the subspecies known as "Atlanteans" have now reached the extension of the homo sapiens species similarity; the genetic distinctions are at their ultimate point, meaning that genetic disconnection from the other subspecies is almost complete. This can be witnessed by the fact that all known pure Atlantean/human hybrids (Namor, Namora, Namorita) are infertile; this effect can also be witnessed in a mule (a donkey/horse hybrid, infertile because the two are sufficiently genetically distinct to be declared separate species).
As a race, the average Atlantean is far more powerful than the average "human" – they stand capable of speeds of swimming up to 30 mph, breathe perfectly underwater (although cannot survive on the surface for more than 5 minutes), have a life-span of approximately 150 years, and are far more physically durable and strong than the average human, as a side effect of living in such a high-pressure environment.
Additionally, there are an offshoot of Atlanteans known as Lemurians; they are typically distinguished by their greener skin and reptilian appearance, although their powers remain identical to their Atlantean counterparts.
These beings were created by Kree experimentation on primitive homo sapiens sapiens after the genetic potential of terrestrial humanoid species was discovered by the vivisection of an Eternal, a follower of Uranos. The Kree created the Inhumans in an attempt to break their own genetic stagnation, and create an army of mutant soldiers.
However, the experiment was abandoned for unknown reasons, and the Inhumans created a society of their own. Powers were induced by the powerful mutagenic chemical known as the Terrigen Mist, although this exposure created lasting genetic damage, and physical aberrations, amongst the Inhumans. As a protective measure, a prohibitive eugenics programme was instituted, to minimize the impact of such damage. Now, bound by strict caste structures and breeding laws, only suitable Inhumans are allowed access to the Terrigen Mist. Additionally, power level after Terrigenesis dictates one's place in society.
As suggested, the power levels and appearances of Inhumans vary greatly, from the insignificant to the awesome, much as mutants. Recently, it has been revealed that Terrigenesis is not exclusive to the Inhumans, but can be applied to former mutants, their powers removed in the Decimation event.
This subspecies started with almost nothing compared to what they would attain; their genetic potential was great, seeded with latent genes to provide eternal life and virtual invulnerability, in addition to other powers; yet these lay dormant within their systems.
A civil war destroyed the unity of these beings, in their first generation. A difference in ideologies saw the Eternals Kronos and Uranos pit their followers against each other, with Kronos' army prevailing, driving Uranos and his followers from Earth. This is particularly relevant to the genetics of the subspecies, since much changed after this schism.
Uranos and his exiles found a Kree supply store on Uranus, hoping to come back to Earth and retake it by force using parts to create a vessel for themselves. Several stayed behind to form their own colony, but this was ill fated, and wiped out before the 20th Century.
Uranos and his followers were attacked by the Kree before reaching Earth, with one member taken for vivisection (the analysis revealed a terrestrial origin, which prompted the Kree to begin the experiments which would lead to the Inhumans), leading the remaining party to limp to Saturn's moon Titan, forming a colony there.
On Earth, Kronos pursued experiments into cosmic energies; however, one of these experiments would have results quite different than expected. Exploding in his face, Kronos was atomized, his energies becoming the Titan God of Time, whilst all other Earth Eternals were doused in fallout radiation; these radiations altered the genetics of all Eternals they touched, activating their latent abilities, and ensuring that all born to the Earth Eternals would have similarly activated genes and levels of power.
It was this which created the second schism of the Eternals; in the first Uni-Mind, it was decided that Kronos' son Zuras would succeed him. However, in order to avoid dissention, the other son, Alars, left, arriving on Titan. There, he encountered Sui-San, the last of the Titan Eternals, and the two repopulated Titan; however, the new Titan Eternals were less powerful than their Earth counterparts, since Sui-San had none of the augmented genetics possessed by all Earth Eternals.
Earth Eternals have astonishing power derived from channelling cosmic energies, capable of using this power for such varied feats as matter rearrangement, energy blasts, flight, super-strength, virtual invulnerability and an almost infinite lifespan. Titan Eternals are, on the whole, endowed with similar powers to lesser levels, although the individual Thanos has surpassed all Eternals in power; his powers were already greater than any Eternal of Titan, and have been augmented with technology and mystic energies, not to mention a great increase in power attached to his resurrection at the hands of Mistress Death.
The race known as "Deviants" were the third of those created by the Celestial machinations; they were endowed with an unusual genetic gift: their physical appearances alter dramatically within each generation, driven by mutation rather than standard bilateral genetic matching. These mutations would often confer superpowers as well as physical deformities, but the powers granted would never be the equal of those wielded by Eternals.
As a result of the ugliness and deformities as standard within the Deviant race, coupled with the beauty of their foes, the Eternals, have lead to a societal structure which abhors physical beauty, to the point of killing those deemed too beautiful.
However, the Deviants were masters of science, having perfected cloning and other genetic manipulation tools whilst mainstream humanity were still living in caves; this was demonstrated by the beast Spore, an unstoppable creature capable of assimilating the genetic codes of any creature assimilated into its mass.
As all races are simply subspecies of the species homo sapiens, crossbreeding is necessarily possible between all of them. Logically, because they can interbreed, they cannot be of distinct species. This can be proven and demonstrated from a variety of established incidents:
-Homo sapiens sapiens can breed with homo sapiens superior (proven in the birth of the beings known as Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, to Magneto and his human wife, Magda) – this may result in either "human" or "mutant" children
-Homo sapiens superior can breed with homo sapiens inhumanus (as shown by Luna, the daughter of Quicksilver and Crystal) – these children may or may not be born "mutant," but based on available evidence are receptive to Terrigenesis
-Homo sapiens sapiens can breed with homo sapiens mermanus (as shown by Namor the Sub-Mariner, son of Leonard McKenzie and an Atlantean princess) – based on available evidence, a deus ex machina effect occurs when these two meet, producing a being of superpowered status in either race; this effect can be confirmed in Namor, and the being Namorita, herself a direct genetic clone of Namora (another Atlantean/human hybrid), both of whom possess identical abilities to those of Namor, and the same infertility, (although Namorita possesses several minor differences due to DNA alteration by a villain whilst incubating) or indeed in the villain Tiger Shark, himself a product of human and Atlantean DNA strains, although his differing powers are due to the wilful contamination of his otherwise pure hybridisation with certain DNA traits of a tiger shark
-Homo sapiens sapiens can breed with homo sapiens aeternus (proven by the fact that a "regular human" woman could act as surrogate mother for the children of Thena, the Eternal) – however, there is as yet no known example of an Eternal and a human mate together producing a child with Eternal superhuman traits
-Homo sapiens deviare can breed with homo sapiens inhumanus (shown by Maelstrom, an Inhuman/Deviant hybrid) – however, there is only one recorded result, and so it is not certain if the great power level demonstrated is standard for these crossbreeds
-Homo sapiens aeternus can breed with homo sapiens deviare (shown by Dark Angel, the twin children born to Thena the Eternal, and Kro the Deviant) – the offspring are registered as Deviant, although it is unknown if this is a standard result

Humans are the one of the many races of RuneScape. Most tend to be taller than Dwarves but smaller than Giants; they tend to be about the same size as Elves, but with a more broad and stocky build.
They are also very well-adaptive. Humans tend to get along well with Dwarves, Gnomes and TzHaar, whom they have long established diplomacies with. They also have some limited communications with goblins, although most of the tribes appear to be enemies.
When we first arrived to this plane, we travelled from the east over some white mountains. It was a long journey, and we saw no other humans and few animals....We're the first humans to come to RuneScape. We came from another plane. On our plane, there are a great many people, and the creatures and the scientific laws seem far less strange....Oh no, there are a great many humans that came through the portal, from all corners of our home plane. We're spread out, some in larger groups, but our family decided to travel a bit further afield. From time to time we see others, and we've arranged to meet up once a year to the east and share our experiences.

Several notable humans within RuneScape include:
Also, all players are human.
Most humans follow Saradomin, Guthix, and Zamorak, while others have been known to follow lesser gods and deities.
The first humans were transported to Gielinor by Guthix through the Portal of Life from another, unnamed plane of existence. The first human inhabitants of Gielinor were frequently visited by Guthix, and at the time knew of no other gods.
During the rest of the First Age, humans were busy exploring their new realm, and the early humans started to form the basis for their civilization. At this time the first wizards, such as Jack Rogersson, used the Runes left behind by Guthix to create the first spells. They also wrote the first spell books.
In the beginning of the Second Age, all humans were Nomadic people. However, it did not take long for them to begin to spread and divide, and before long humanity had spread across the world, establishing the oldest human civilizations in Kharidian Desert. Since Guthix by this time had entered his long slumber, humans started to follow new gods, notably Saradomin, Armadyl, and Zaros; Zamorak was still a Mahjarrat and had very few followers. They were always on Gielinor, and it is likely that all three of the main gods had a hand in creating different species of human to their liking. Humans are rather short-lived, and thus, the gods made them rather intelligent and diverse. The humans remained dominant during the wars, albeit at their own cost.
Humanity played a key role in the God Wars. During the God Wars, like almost every race, humanity nearly became extinct. The wars also made them violent, to the point of opposing one another.
When the Fourth Age began, almost every human settlement was destroyed and most of the humans lived a nomadic lifestyle again. The only known free humans with permanent settlements lived in the refugee town Burgh de Rott and the twin settlement Menaphos/Sophanem. As the fourth age progressed, humanity began to prosper. Many heroic tales and legends come from this age. Varrock was founded with the help of Arrav, and the evil of Morytania was sealed away by The Seven Priestly Warriors. Humanity, though, was competing for land with nearly every other race, and so they were involved in many wars and battles. Still, they were nothing approaching the God Wars. Humanity gained supremacy when the Fremenniks discovered Rune Essence. While some of the Fremenniks disagreed and claimed the stones should not be used, others began crafting it into runes.
The Fifth Age, or the Age of Humans, began when these runes fell into human hands. Kept a closely guarded secret between a select few mages, rune essence began to be made into runes. Humanity could finally defend itself from attacks using magic. Civilizations grew and new land was conquered. Before long, humanity had become the dominant species in Gielinor. However, the Wizard's Tower was burned down by Zamorakian mages, thus the secrets of runecrafting were lost to most of humans. That marked the end of expansion of humans and from that point they used runes mainly to defend themselves from outsiders. Later on the lost knowledge of runecrafting was found and humans once again started using these for magic, significantly regaining much of their lost prestige and power.
Currently, it is Year 169 of the Fifth Age. Humanity is still dominant for the time being, but this could all soon change. Nevertheless, human adventurers have played crucial roles in recent events occurring all over Gielinor's surface and depths, and even in adjacent dimensions and planes, ranging from slaying apocalyptic demons, destroying powerful dragons which have laid waste to entire settlements, discovering long-lost secrets of gods, interacting with all the other Gielinorian races, either as allies, as enemies, or neutrally, and repelling the evil of both the Wilderness and Morytania.

Humans (Homo sapiens sapiens) are the native sentient humanoid species of Earth, and one of the founding races of the United Federation of Planets. As a collective group, they are sometimes called humanity.
Humans may also be called Terrans (derived from the Latin terra, meaning Earth), although use of the term in this sense is rare. It more popularly applies to humans of the mirror universe, as in Terran Empire. (The Cardăsda word for human--terhăn--derives from the Latin root as well. [Star Trek: Sigils and Unions])
Some species also use the term "Earther" in a derogatory sense when referring to humans or human-hybrids.

Over the years of human history, humans have evolved as a society. Starting as a tribal and sometimes nomadic race, these tribes grew into kingdoms and nations, and some of them empires.
Two global conflicts, World War I and World War II, rocked the planet in the early to mid-20th century. This set the stage for the United Nations (the first failed attempt being called the League of Nations), which helped unify humans on Earth and attempt to bring mankind together. Even though the Cold War threatened world peace on the post-World War II Earth, the fall of Communism in many Eastern European and Soviet Union countries saw a new era ushered in on Earth. Europe grew from separate nation-states into a European Union over the later part of the 20th and first part of the 21st centuries.
Another global conflict, the Eugenics Wars in the late 20th century, grew into World War III in the mid-21st century. Hundreds of millions of humans perished in the wars, and humanity's development was set back many years in the resulting nuclear winter. (TOS: "Space Seed"; TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint"; Star Trek: First Contact)
In 2063, Zefram Cochrane invented warp drive, launching the Phoenix into space, and, as a result, setting into motion first contact with the Vulcans. This launched humanity into a new renaissance. (Star Trek: First Contact) Humanity started to explore the stars after that.
Humans created a United Earth government by 2150 when the last country to hold out, Australia, joined the union. United Earth still existed as of the 24th century, though by that time as a member state of the Federation. (TNG: "The Price", "Conundrum", "Attached"; VOY: "Imperfection") This United Earth also created an Earth Starfleet, launching humanity's first warp 5 starship, the Enterprise (NX-01) in 2151. (ENT: "Broken Bow")
Humanity started to branch out into new colonies in the Sol system, and, by 2069, New Berlin on the Moon, Utopia Planitia on Mars and a few asteroid bases were settled. Humans also started to settle new worlds outside the Sol system as early as 2078 with the Terra Nova colony. (ENT: "Terra Nova")
By 2161, humans helped form the United Federation of Planets out of its precursor, the Coalition of Planets: a membership humanity remained affiliated to until at least the 24th century. (TNG: "The Price"; ENT: "These Are The Voyages...")
By the 24th century, the core body of humanity had wiped out war, hunger, disease, famine and poverty: a stark difference from humans' earlier history. The need to gain material wealth was gone, as replicators could supply almost everything humans needed and a non-monetary society was set in place. Instead, humans were expected to use their lives to better humanity as a whole as well as enrich their own lives and the lives of those around them. Some humans living on colony worlds, however, especially those not affiliated with the Federation, continued to live according to other priorities. (DS9: "Necessary Evil", "In The Cards"; Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home; Star Trek: First Contact)
Humans fit into the classification mammalian humanoid as bilaterally symmetrical bipedal primates (basically meaning they stand upright and walk on two feet). By the 24th century, a typical human's average lifespan was around 120 years, although, in some cases, this could be much higher. (TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint")
They require Class M environmental conditions, and breathe oxygen through two lungs, to survive. The range of temperatures the typical human body can withstand is a lot wider than many other species, including bearing colder temperatures better than Klingons and Cardassians and higher temperatures better than Andorians. The typical human's physical strength tends to be less than a Vulcan's or a Klingon's, but humans tend to be more resilient than the other two. (DS9: "Distant Voices")
Like many species, humans have some redundancies in their anatomy. Humans could function with only one lung or one kidney for example. With the body's ability to store and use both water and fat, they could survive for days or weeks without water or food, respectively.
Unlike many species, humans have no facial or body bony ridges, but still demonstrate diversity with different skin tones and colors, eye colors, facial shapes, hair colors and so on, giving each one an individual appearance (the exceptions being multiple-baby births where the babies are identical).
Human blood is iron-based, and each human has one blood type based around three antigens being present or absent, with the most common blood types being A+ and O+.
The species has two sexes: male and female. After fertilization, a female carries a baby or babies for approximately nine months before giving birth. With humans being very genetically compatible with some other races, cross-breeding is not uncommon, especially with Vulcans, Klingons and Betazoids. (TOS: "Babel", et al; TNG: "The Emissary"; VOY: "Caretaker", et al; TNG: "Encounter at Farpoint", et al.)
The human genome is considered to be of a especially pliable, or "labile" nature, meaning that it submits easily to alien influences, allowing hybridization to take place with relative ease compared to hybrids involving some other species. One theory about this is that unlike on some worlds, human DNA diverged little from that of the ancient Progenitors that seeded the galaxy with their humanoid progeny. That said, the requirement of medical help is not automatically ruled out, and in the case of human hybrids who seek to have children with other species (or even with one of the species from whom they themselves are descended), medical help to the degree required by some non-human species may still be required. (Star Trek: Sigils and Unions essay--"Hybrid Theory")
The term metahumanity is often used for any evolved types of humanity, e.g. the New Humans.(Dragon Ball Z vs. Star Trek: The Beginning of Infinity)
The M'Tar and Na'arbi are experts at genetic engineering, and modified several humans (as well as other races) to enhance their latent abilities. Examples include giving Scott Fack telepathic and telekinetic abilities, as well as superhuman strength and stamina and Garrett advanced mathematical processing skills. (Star Trek: The Prospect Chronicles: "Lady Lazarus")
In general, transhumanist practices such as genetic engineering and elective bioengineering were frowned upon. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan; DS9: "Doctor Bashir, I Presume") Some exceptions to this policy were made, like for emergency replacement of an heart with an artificial one. (TNG: "Tapestry").
Engineering absolutely required for survival, such as to allow a human hybrid to be born without threatening the life of the child or the mother, or to engineer out a life-threatening genetic disease, is permitted. There are strict laws governing the process, however: no attempts to create a superior race to either parent's race are permitted, nor is the introduction of any traits or genetic material not from either parent's DNA permitted unless material absolutely must be spliced in as a "patch" where the child otherwise could not live. (Star Trek: Sigils and Unions essay--"Hybrid Theory")
In one alternate universe in which the Dominion won the war against the Alpha Quadrant allies, humanity was afflicted (ca. 2375) with a virus that genetically altered the species, engineering into it the Cardassian hierarchical instinct; the modification is believed to have been species-wide across all of former Federation territory. They had hoped this would provide a control mechanism over what they saw as a headstrong species. While it may have delayed the inevitable revolution, one still came nonetheless.
By the time the human, Cardassian, and other species' rebellions overthrew the Dominion, the modifications--known as the Graft--had been in place for at least 45 years, making humanity's course of action from that point forward a matter of serious ethical debate, given that two generations had been born with the Graft and knew nothing else, and some who were already born but infected at a very early age were in the same situation as their younger peers, as they lacked sufficient memories to fully comprehend the difference between how they were pre- and post-Graft. Some humans in this universe speak of Cardassians as their "cousins" due to the existence of shared, subconscious tonal and nonverbal cues between species and other social similarities that arose due to the Graft. Humans were the galaxy's most numerous and politically dominant sentient species with millions of major and minor colonies galaxywide. Believed to have originated on the galactic capital of Coruscant, they could be found anywhere, engaged in many different pursuits: spacers, mercenaries, smugglers, merchants, soldiers, assassins, farmers, crime lords, laborers, slaves, slavers, and many others, including Jedi. Since Humans were the most common sentient species, they were often considered to be a standard or average to which the biology, psychology, and culture of other species were compared.

Like most of the galaxy's sentient species, Humans had a torso, two legs, two arms, and one head. Other sentient species with a body type roughly similar to Humans were often referred to as humanoid, since Humans were the most common example. Their heads had two eyes, one nose for breathing and smelling, and a mouth for eating, breathing and communicating. Human arms had five-fingered hands for manipulation, mirrored by their legs' five-toed feet. Also, like most species, they came in two sexes, male and female.[4]
Unlike other mammalian species (such as Wookiees or Ewoks), they had only a light covering of body hair, with males being hairier than females. Most of their body hair was concentrated on the head and (in the case of adult males) face. This hair was grown, cut, and styled for aesthetic or ritualistic reasons (as with the elaborate hairstyles of the Royal Naboo and the traditional braids of Human Jedi Padawans.) Older Human males often demonstrated loss of the hair on their head. The facial hair grown by adult males could be grown, styled, or shaved completely.[5]
Despite overall physiological uniformity, baseline Humans varied greatly in appearance. Their hair color ranged from blond to dark, sometimes with hues of red or brown, changing to gray or white as years passed. Their hair could be straight, wavy, or curly. Their eyes came in shades of blue, green, gray, or brown.
Gradiation of skin tone was also seen among baseline Humans, usually limited to various shades of brown, ranging from pale yellowish brown (e.g.: Bana Breemu[5]), to light brown (e.g.: Luke Skywalker[4]), and dark brown (e.g.: Lando Calrissian[6]). Diversity in appearance was seen on many Human populations, and no particular features seemed to have been traceable to specific isolated communities on any locations. The planet Socorro could have conceivably been an exception, as most of its known Human inhabitants seemed to possess dark skin and hair.
Luke Skywalker was cataloged by Mistress Mnemos as a "10th Degree" Human, though it remains unknown what this classification entailed.[7]
Having a recorded and civilized history reaching back far beyond the beginning of space travel, before 200,000 BBY,[1] the origin and early history of Humans was lost to their scientists in the depths of millennia. There were at least five planets that claimed to be the Human homeworld. Whatever the original homeworld was, it was universally accepted that Humans evolved on one of the Core Worlds near the galaxy's center. Humans were among the few sentient species in the galaxy whose homeworld was unknown, the Ryn, Yoda's species and the Baragwins being some other examples.
According to an inscription found by archaeologists Dr. Xathan and Fem Nu-Ar on Seoul 5 around 4 ABY, Humans originated on the planet Notron,[2] an archaic name for Coruscant.[8] The ancient Zhell nations, who drove the Near-Human Taung from Coruscant, may have been the progenitors of later Humans.[1] Coruscant's ground had been several kilometers below its inhabitants' feet for millennia, with the lowest depths of its planet-wide city dating back to 100,000 BBY. Thus, it was impossible to carry out the historical study and archaeological research on the planet's prehistory necessary to prove or to disprove that theory. In addition, Coruscant's natural climate was said to be too cold to support Human life,[9] a claim difficult to be reconciled with the theory that it was the original Human homeworld. Tarnese Bleyd believed that the ancestors of humans favored trees and high ground based upon his observations of human hunting behavior. [10]
It is possible that some ancient civilization, such as the Celestials or even the Rakata, transported early Humans from their original home planet to others. It was, in fact, alleged that they had once been a slave race of the Infinite Empire[1]; however, any knowledge of Human enslavement was absent from Rakatan records as of 3,956 BBY. Some of the far-flung 'colonies' eventually diverged genetically from the Human baseline, giving rise to various Near-Human races and species.
During the Jedi Civil War, the Jedi Revan discovered evidence in the oral traditions of the Sand People on Tatooine that the human species may have originated as slaves taken from that planet by the Rakata, the Sand People being the genetically distinct species that evolved from those who were left behind. The fact that the Sand People's legends indicated that the planet had once been far more temperate and habitable before an ancient war with the Rakata adds credence to this possibility. However, millennia of distortion introduced into the historical record combined with the Sand People's extreme hostility to the idea of introducing new interpretations into their oral tradition made it impossible for Revan to investigate this further.[11]
Humans discovered space travel themselves, early in their history; in fact, they were already present on a few scattered colony planets of the Core Worlds even before the development of hyperdrive, thanks to the use of sleeper ships. Coruscant had grown to a planet-wide city and from there, they spread to such Core Worlds as Alderaan, Corellia, Corulag, and Chandrila.[1]
During their early history, Humans seem to have been subjugated by the Rakatan Infinite Empire. Though some sources indicate that they were enslaved workers on Rakatan projects such as the Star Forge,[1] the fact that the droids and computers Rakatan ruins on Dantooine dating from that era did not recognize the Human species points to the contrary.[12]
After the fall of the Infinite Empire circa 25,200 BBY, the Humans of the Core used Rakatan technology to set up a true interstellar civilization. At first, a network of hyperspace cannons linked Coruscant with other Human-populated worlds, as well as the Duros civilization. Corellian Humans were one of the first societies to develop hyperdrive starships sometime before 25,053 BBY, spreading the technology to other Core Worlds. With the hyperdrive, their scouts and explorers traveled and met with other species, in a time known as the Expansionist Era.[1]
The Human colonies, which had expanded through the Core Worlds through slower-than-light travel, later established daughter colonies of their own in what became the Colonies region. During the last pre-Republic years, Humans reached the Outer Rim and populated planets as far away as the Tion Cluster. The Tionese warlord Xim the Despot, whose conquests reached from the Cronese Sweeps to the Si'Klaata Cluster at the edge of Hutt Space, was one of the most prominent Humans of the pre-Republic period.[1]
During the Expansionist Era, Humans began to play a dominant role in the development of the galaxy and in galactic politics. These Humans were eventually responsible for the Unification Wars, which resulted from their expansionistic views. The wars themselves led to the formation of the Galactic Republic, a galaxy-spanning affiliation of worlds and species. Though the Republic had many member species, most of the Republic's political, military, and economic leaders were Humans. Humans also made up a large proportion of the Jedi Order, and eventually came to dominate the Jedi's constant enemies, the Sith Order. By the end of the Old Sith Wars, Humans also made up the majority of the Mandalorian warrior culture.[13]
Most Humans under the Republic lived on predominantly Human worlds, although many Humans lived alongside aliens on their homeworlds, or together with several other species. Humans were more likely to live among nonhumans on the cosmopolitan Core Worlds, or on frontier worlds at the Outer Rim of the galaxy such as Tatooine. Predominantly Human worlds outside of the Core included Eriadu, Naboo, Socorro, and Bakura.
Human population levels and significance inevitably led to a Humanocentric galaxy. Humanocentrism was pervasive and in many cases, subconscious. Humanocentrism was the source for the Human use of the term "alien" to describe nonhuman species. In some cases, this led to overt and even violent outbreaks of speciesism. Although explicit Humanocentrism was outlawed by the Rights of Sentience clause of the Galactic Constitution, Human-led companies such as Czerka enslaved entire nonhuman species, while planets such as Taris reserved the best sections of the world for Humans and forced nonhumans into ghettos. The majority of slaves in the galaxy were nonhumans.
At the end of the Galactic Republic's history, the Clone Wars worsened relationships between Humans and aliens, since the Republic was led by Humans while the Confederacy of Independent Systems was led by aliens. This was evident by the formation of several pro-Human groups within the Republic, including the Commission for the Protection of the Republic (COMPOR) and its chapter SAGroup. COMPOR pressured the First Minister of the Coruscant Ministry of Ingress, Tannon Praji, into deporting all members of species whose homeworld had joined the CIS, thus decreasing the nonhuman presence in the Galactic capital.
At the time of the foundation of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY, there were several large populist groups active on Coruscant that advocated concepts of Human supremacy, or Human High Culture. These were quickly assimilated into the nascent Commission for the Preservation of the New Order (COMPNOR).[1]
The tenets of Human High Culture were that Humans were the only truly intelligent and productive members of any society. Believers in this ideology pointed out that, it was almost exclusively Humans who had formed and led the Old Republic, and the Human worlds of the Core were some of the oldest, richest, and most advanced in the galaxy. The contributions of nonhumans were overlooked, with later Imperial propaganda spreading misinformation which claimed such ancient civilizations as the Columi and the Mon Calamari were insignificant, recent additions to the Galactic community.[14]
As such, through the repealing of such laws as the Rights of Sentience and the creation of new acts, most nonhumans were made second-class citizens. Slavery was re-legalized, with the majority of slaves being nonhumans. Only "pure" works of art (such as operas, holovids, books, etc) were allowed to be produced, viewed, and spread, since only Human culture was worthy enough to be allowed to prosper in the New Order. Non-Humans were "actively discouraged" from participating in government or joining the Imperial military, and Human governors and moffs were placed in command of nonhuman worlds and sectors.
Later in the Imperial era, an anti-Human organization known as the Alien Combine was formed as a result of the injustices inflicted. However, since the Alien Combine was unwilling to take drastic actions (terrorism), it was wiped out by the Empire.[15]
Despite this, there were many Humans who opposed the Empire's policies, most notably Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, his daughter Princess Leia, Jan Dodonna and Garm Bel Iblis. These individuals, along with notable nonhumans like Admiral Ackbar, and Borsk Fey'lya, founded and led the Alliance to Restore the Republic, or Rebel Alliance. One of the main principles of the Alliance was the reversal of the Empire's discriminatory policies, and the liberation of enslaved species.[16]
Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, the Empire splintered into various warring states. The Rebel Alliance became known as the Alliance of Free Planets and eventually the New Republic, the new dominant Galactic government. However, the outbreak of the deadly Krytos virus, which affected only nonhumans, following the liberation of Coruscant in 7 ABY drove a wedge between the New Republic's Human and alien populations. This would be resolved when the New Republic acquired bacta from Thyferra following the Bacta War. Though the New Republic reversed the Empire's discriminatory policies and gave power to oppressed nonhuman species, three of the six Chiefs of State who led the New Republic were Human: Mon Mothma, Leia Organa Solo, and Cal Omas.
The views of Human High Culture were still kept alive in the New Republic for years after the Empire's defeat, by fringe groups such as the Human League which initiated the First Corellian Insurrection in 18 ABY. Slavery of aliens also continued in remote parts of the galaxy and some Imperial fortress worlds. In 12 ABY, Admiral Daala strongly weakened this concept within the Imperial Remnant by allowing aliens of all kinds to join the Imperial military.
After the signing of the Bastion Accords in 19 ABY which ended the war between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant, the fanatical anti-Human Diversity Alliance attempted to destroy all Humans in retaliation for the oppression inflicted by the Empire. However, their uprising was stopped as soon as it had begun by the Jedi and the New Republic in 24 ABY. Following the collapse of the Diversity Alliance, the Cooperative Council of Independent Planetary Governments was formed to promote cooperation between the species of the New Republic.
During the Yuuzhan Vong War (25 ABY–30 ABY), the various species and governments of the galaxy were forced to unite to defeat the invasion of the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong. In the war's aftermath, the New Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. Under Cal Omas, the former government's policies of cooperation between Humans and nonhumans continued.
The Second Galactic Civil War which started in 40 ABY created an upsurge of anti-Corellian feeling even amongst their fellow Humans. On Coruscant, Corellians were regarded with suspicion by fellow citizens and many were interned including those who had fought for the Galactic Alliance and its predecessors.
Throughout the Legacy era, Humans would dominate much of galactic society though the Galactic Alliance's policies of interspecies cooperation would presumably continue. Between 130 ABY and 137 ABY, the Galactic Alliance, the Jedi Order and the Yuuzhan Vong shaper caste initiated a successful terraforming of the war-devastated world of Ossus which had been a great Jedi center of learning in the distant past.
As a result, about one hundred devastated worlds turned to the Yuuzhan Vong and Jedi for help. The results proved beneficial for the inhabitants and it seemed that there would be peace in the galaxy. Alas, the new Sith Order under the leadership of Darth Krayt sabotaged the project by causing mutations and diseases in life forms. The Sith had successfully used the galaxy's dormant prejudice towards the Yuuzhan Vong.
An enraged galaxy turned their fury on the Yuuzhan Vong, Jedi and the Alliance, just as the Sith had wanted. The Galactic Alliance had supported this beneficial terraforming under the encouragement of the New Jedi Order, and found itself facing a secession movement with this deadly new development. This movement was led by the former Imperial Remnant which had by then become the new Galactic Empire. Unlike the Humanocentric Galactic Empire of Palpatine, this new Empire treated Humans and aliens more equally. This was evident by its military forces including the legendary 501st Legion having specialized armor created for nonhumanoid species.[17] But command positions in the Empire were still apparently reserved for Humans and Near-Humans like the Chiss. The Sith, on the other hand, had only few Humans among the Sith Lords of their Order.[18]
Eventually, the Moff Council (which controlled the Empire) invoked the Treaty of Anaxes and declared war on the Galactic Alliance. Many of the dissatisfied worlds defected from the Alliance to the Empire, with others declaring their neutrality. It was at this time the new Sith Order made itself known, proposing an alliance with the Empire after contacting Moff Nyna Calixte, Director of Imperial Intelligence.
The resulting Sith-Imperial War lasted three years, during which Imperial forces reconquered Coruscant and absorbed the remainder of the Alliance into the Empire. The Jedi were forced to retreat to their temple on Ossus, which was later the focus of an attack by Sith forces led by Darth Krayt and Imperial forces led by Moff Rulf Yage. Shortly after, the Sith turned against Emperor Roan Fel and his Imperial Knights.
Many species in the galaxy appeared to be very closely related to Humans, as they shared many physical traits. These were described as being near-Human, and were believed to have descended from Humans that evolved along distinct lines on other worlds. Among the most prominent near-Human races were the Chalactans, the Chiss, the Hapans, the Kiffar, the Miraluka, the Mirialans, the Sith, and the Zeltrons. All of these were mostly Human in appearance, but had unique and distinct defining characteristics. Often, the biological differences were small enough that Humans and near-Humans could interbreed. In many cases, it was difficult to tell whether a given population represented a distinct species, or merely a race or ethnic group of baseline Humans.
The term near-Human was more specific than humanoid. While near-Humans were biologically related to Humans, other humanoid species merely shared broad external similarities such as an upright bipedal posture.
The origin of Humans in Star Wars is unknown (though many in the galaxy believe that they originated on Coruscant). Since they appear to be identical to Humans on Earth, some fans have created theories about a species of extragalactic aliens who transported early Humans from Earth to the "Galaxy Far, Far Away". Other fans suggest that parallel evolution could have produced Humans in the Star Wars galaxy as well as in the Milky Way. A canceled, and therefore non-canon, novel known as Alien Exodus would have explained the origins of Humanity and their connection with Earth, but it was never published for a variety of reasons. The storyline in this novel involved both space travel and time travel, which would have explained the line "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away."
Though Humans have been portrayed in film mostly by actors of European descent, Humans in the Star Wars galaxy appear to be ethnically diverse. Specific physical features are rarely associated with specific Human groups; however, most known Seroccoans appear to possess epicanthal folds, while Socorroans have generally dark skin. Mandalorians in Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords have New Zealand accents, probably a tribute to Temuera Morrisson and Daniel Logan.
Humans have appeared in all six Star Wars films, as well as in nearly every Expanded Universe story. Notable exceptions include every episode of Star Wars: Ewoks except for the final episode (Battle for the Sunstar) and the Star Wars Tales comic George R. Binks.
The word "Human" is not capitalized in nearly all novels or comics, but it was decided to capitalize it on Wookieepedia for consistency, since all other sentient species have their names capitalized.

(HYŪ'-măn) Humanity is a playable race in Star Wars Galaxies. It is the most commonly chosen race and therefore humanity is spread far and wide across the Galaxy. Humans can be found on virtually all habitable planets and occupy a variety of roles and occupations.
Entertainers are mostly human because many find the other races physically unattractive.
Humans are well-rounded characters because their attributes are distributed evenly. Their ingenuity and intelligence makes them well-suited for any number of professions.
The most common race in Tibia, humans are the children of Banor. Humans may come in two different genders, male and female.
Humans (also known as: fleshlings, meatbags, insects, squishies, noisy creatures, "puny flesh creatures", "dumb stubbies", Terrans or Homo sapiens as they prefer) are bipedal and usually tiny organic beings found on Earth and like planets. Though quite fragile and technologically backwards, they have at times aided the Autobots and thwarted the Decepticons once the Transformers' age-old war spilled onto the humans' primitive homeworld.

Humans are suspiciously familiar creatures. Though they are made of soft, organic materials, they share remarkable physical similarities with Transformers as a species. Most Transformers and humans walk upright on two long ambulator limbs attached to a tall body, with two manipulator limbs attached at the shoulders. Atop the shoulders is the head, just like a Transformer's, which sports two optical sensors in the center at equal distance from the olfactory sensor array, above a mouth which opens for speaking and for ingesting various fuels and organic materials needed for their self-repair systems. This would seem to be a sensible system, capable of diverting the fuels directly or processing, while the spare materials can be stored anywhere in their bodies, to be used later when and if necessary. Like Transformers, they are social creatures, who trade and barter wares and develop emotional attachments to peers. Eerily enough, they possess an emotional spectrum nearly identical to that of Transformers as well, ranging from laughter, joy, and satisfaction to depression, anger, and cruelty. It is not uncommon to find Transformers who have even developed strong spiritual bonds with individual creatures. This is disgusting.
Humans are physically composed of several specialized units or systems called organs. The major organs are internalized, but extremely frail, susceptible to damage at all times as they lack natural armor, save for a few parts of their internal skeletal design. Most organs are capable of self-repairing minor damage, and are in a constant state of discharging and disposing of material which naturally becomes damaged through use. More serious damage requires the assistance of a medical engineer to open the human's organs for repair operations. Complete replacement of parts is considered an extreme option, as their organ replication technology is in its early experimental stages; replacement usually requires harvesting from compatible humans, sometimes from recently-deactivated ones who will no longer have need of their organs. In addition, their bodies are continuously invaded by miniscule foreign organic entities, such as viruses, bacteria, and parasites, which can disrupt the human's operation. Human bodies have their own automatic defenses to constantly seek out and destroy these invaders, but occasionally fail, causing the human to malfunction in various ways while its body resorts to extreme defense measures. Often, the human recovers and the body self-repairs, but some infestations result in permanent damage or a complete cessation of function.
Major systems include the brain (central processing unit), the heart (primary engine core), and the lungs (carburetor). Over sixty percent of their chemical composition is water, though they are not aquatic in nature. Humans primarily require three general substances as fuel: gaseous oxygen, liquid water, and a complex variety of metallic elements and carbon compounds collectively called "food," obtained by ingesting and breaking down other organic life forms for spare materials. Oxygen is the most essential of these, as a human's central processor cannot function for more than a few minutes without it. After processing and absorption, a liquid substance they call blood, carries these fuels throughout the entire body. Because blood channels are present everywhere in their soft bodies, humans are very susceptible to blood loss through damage. Fortunately, blood itself contains a sealant designed to close small openings and allow self-repair, and blood itself is self-replicating. Nevertheless, an immediate and tremendous loss will result in permanent deactivation, as a loss of blood means a loss of the essential oxygen fuel.
Not being a perfecly efficient system, a human body produces waste materials. Gaseous carbon dioxide results from their oxygen processing, and is expelled through the lungs in the same process that draws in oxygen. Liquid and solid waste is produced through orifices at the bottom of their bodies and are quickly disposed of whenever possible, as humans instinctively consider these waste products repugnant. In fact, the words for them are often used as expressions of disdain or resentment among humans.
A human's organic tissue will begin failing just one quarter into his or her lifespan, and will spend the next three quarters accumulating wear and damage while growing ever less efficient, until the human's body can no longer sustain its own function. As a result, even without catastrophic injury, humans are saddeningly short-lived creatures. (It is not known how they find the time to accomplish anything, though as a side effect it has made their wars mercifully short.) But this fact results in many humans having a valiant and admirable value of life.
Amazingly, humans do not build new members of their race. To the contrary, humans are what they have deemed "sexually dimorphic", categorized into sexes, wherein members of one subvariant of their species, classified as male, implants structural data, which they call "DNA", in the other, classified as female. This process grows a new human (curiously, much like the parasites their bodies normally destroy) from base substances inside the female's gestation chamber, which maintains the new human's life functions as its organs develop. Rarely, multiple new humans will grow together inside the female. After roughly three-quarters of an Earth year, the female expels the new human from inside her body, as its body is now sufficiently developed to sustain itself, and continued growth would harm the female. The new human is very fragile and stupid, able to communicate only with a shrill noise and incapable of any independant action. Despite this, the human experiences a period of accelerated learning and observation that can rival a Transformer's capabilities, rapidly developing an abstract understanding of its surroundings. Even so, it will take years to acclimate itself to their society, and will require even more time to learn to operate self-sufficiently. Despite their limited intelligence and understanding, younger humans are often among the first to form bonds with friendly Transformers, due to their natural acceptance of new ideas and change. After roughly the first quarter of its life span, the human is fully grown and capable, but experiences a sharp decline in its ability to learn new concepts, and will enjoy only a few years of peak operation before the aforementioned gradual tissue failures begin accumulating.
Initiating the growth of a new human apparently involves much rubbing, and also kissing. Humans are reticent to discuss the practice, and several attempts at accumulating further data were met with what they term as "awkward silence." This is quite confusing, as humans generally give the impression that they supremely enjoy it, and have refused all suggestions that they learn the technology to build their own from spare parts.
Although Earth is rich with elemental and chemical resources, Human technology is surprisingly primitive. They had only begun to experiment with trans-atmospheric travel at the time the Great War began on Earth, and they have limited communication methods. Although their locomotive devices, called "cars," are suitable for Transformation, they are quite crude, potentially dangerous, and incredibly energy inefficient. Despite this, the type of car is often seen as a status symbol among humans; apparently the larger the car, the more status achieved. Some humans claim that those with large cars are "compensating" for some other sort of size deficiency—unsurprising, considering how tiny humans are compared to the average Transformer.
Human military technology is equally unimpressive. They have yet to develop any form of workable energy weapons, and no shield technology either. Their primary weapons are devices called guns, which shoot small, metallic projectiles called bullets using a crude explosive called gunpowder. These are more than capable of killing other humans, but they are extremely inefficient when fending off any attacking Decepticons. Their self-propelled explosive weapons are slightly more efficient, though extremely primitive when compared to Autobot photon and plasma weapons.
In some universes humans have weaponry that is actually rather effective against a Transformer. In one universe the humans used explosive projectiles called "Sabots" that employ an incredibly high heat to burn through Decepticon armour and then detonate in the more vulnerable innards. A sufficient volley of these in the right places can bring down a fairly large Decepticon almost as effectively as our own cannons. The humans combine these with one advantage of their small size: hiding, taking cover in buildings or behind other obstacles then popping up to fire a few rounds before hiding and relocating before firing again.
Although their technology is fairly primitive, and they fail to intelligently utilize their plentiful resources, human technological advancement is impressive considering their circumstances, and accelerates at an exponential rate. Since the dawn of their existence, Cybertronians have had all the technology they needed to study inside of them, which made engineering more and new technologies very easy. The humans had to start from nothing, using a laborious process of observation and experimentation to learn anything about the universe they lived in.
Like on Cybertron before the war, humans make up the fabric of their local (or global) economies. Some work as repairmen, some are drillers in search of un-processed lubricants, others are retrievers of rare mineral lattices and metals, a few accomplish all of these simultaneously. The humans strangely use the majority of the lubricant they extract as a highly inefficient source of energy, and adorn themselves with the harvested minerals and metals at exorbitant prices. Apparently the humans reason that because these objects are rare, they are incredibly beautiful, and therefore worth vastly more resources than were spent extracting and refining them. Instead of trading valuable energy directly for goods and services, a small piece of lumbered and processed planetgrowth is exchanged. This planetgrowth represents energy abstractly, and its worth is assumed on good faith, though it is usually backed up by various metals and crystals of economic value.
A number of unsavory humans subvert this established system to illegally or immorally obtain these planetgrowths. Many of these humans were involved in unusual accidents which empowered the individual specimen to levels above ordinary humans, while others are tempted by their relatively high intelligence levels or capacity for selfish acts. Encounters with these subversive humans happen at an alarming rate, whether they be failed entertainers who claim to own all Transformers, mad scientists, or gifted archers who dress in homage to Earth folklore. By sheer numbers, these humans must represent half of the known population.
Politically, humans are divided among various nation-states which seem to be divided primarily among ethnic, linguistic, and religious differences. On occasion, these nation-states will engage in conflict over territory and resources, but as previously stated, their wars are usually quite short. Most humans seem to prefer some sort of democracy where they elect individuals to govern and legislate their nation-states, although a number of them choose their leaders due to genetic inheritance and familial succession; others still hold power through a Decepticon style dictatorship, though the mental stability of a few have been questioned. At times, the Decepticons have exploited Earth's factional tendencies to manipulate them to their advantage, but the Autobots have usually managed to expose the Decepticon influence before a full scale military conflict occurs.
Humans greatly enjoy complex mathematical sound patterns, termed "music," and have devised innumerable mechanical devices to produce them throughout every known Earth culture. Sometimes, but not always, these sound patterns are accompanied with narrative poetry, either delivered with vocal inflections to complement the devices, or spoken with a measured pace. The Autobots Jazz and Blaster have taken a particular interest in music, though the chosen volume has overwhelmed most other Autobots, including the mighty Optimus Prime from time to time. Music is one of those few artificial phenomena humans have instinctive reactions to, as they often show an involuntary need to move about in concordance with the music they are experiencing. Some of these movements even become ritualized, which they call "dancing." Strangely, even the aforementioned Autobots have also shown a desire to move about in this manner. Presumably, a fear of blowback prevented the Autobots from utilizing human music as a weapon against the Decepticons.
Humans are also competitive creatures, engaging in a variety of physical contests that are designed to test their strength, stamina, and speed. While none of them could hold their own against even the weakest Transformer, many human physical games, or "sports," have been eagerly adopted by Transformers. The Autobot Eject is particularly fond of human athletics, and his vocabulary is littered with the human sports terminology. Likewise, they have devised games of cunning and strategy to test and advance one's mental faculties. "Chess," a ritualized and simplified interpretation of warfare, is the most widely played of these. Many other popular games use elements of random chance and deception, rewarding the ability to feign weakness or strength, seize advantages, and manipulate one's foes.
Despite their lack of the multi-dimensional transwarp Spark, a great number of humans believe in an analogous concept, the intangible soul. This has been confirmed to be the equivalent of a Transformer's personality program in an odd experiment, when the human Spike Witwicky's personality was uploaded to an empty Transformer body cobbled together from spare parts. The human's consciousness was not suitable for digitization, and quickly deteriorated toward psychosis.
Many also believe in supernatural beings, either singular or plural, who have a direct but intangible stake in their lives. Once a week the more religious humans will gather together and produce music directed toward the ceiling of their religious facilities, as the presumed direction of these beings is away from the gravity well of their planet. Unlike the historical Covenant of Primus, their holy books are not incorruptible encrypted public-key datatracks. Instead, they frequently re-encode the writings of multiple authors in an inefficient and apparently lossy process. Disputes often arise as they debate about which "translation" is correct instead of simply downloading the original encoding algorithm, which most fail to realize has been corrupted beyond recovery. More confusing still, many of these different beliefs insist that their supernatural patrons are ultimately benevolent and loving beings who wish for all humans to care for each other, yet some humans who worship them will eagerly use violence to enforce the supremacy of their being over that of others. This is highly illogical and contradictory, which appears to elude the understanding of such humans.
Despite having no concrete evidence these beings exist, and despite the records of the Beast Wars affirming their evolution from bipedal primates, the humans continue to assume these premises are true. This seems like a waste of spent attention, especially with such short lifespans, as no credible sources have substantiated that their alleged creator has ever transformed out of their world into a giant humanoid and fought its eternal enemy before their eyes. While some humans accept that they evolved from bipedal primates, there are others who maintain the divine intervention theory with a zeal that leads one to wonder if they are malfunctioning. Though some have contended that the two theories are mutually exclusive, many seem to fall in a categorization that somehow accepts both. Many human traditions are puzzling.
The most familiar breed of humans are native to the planet Earth, though they can be found practically anywhere in the galaxy. For example, Nebulos is such a place, though some reports claim these humans are of green colour rather than various shades of beige. Femax is populated by humans of Transformer size. Pz-Zazz is also home to Transformer-sized humans, but it is not known whether they are indigenous to that world. It is possible that the tiny version of humans found on Earth is the exception, rather than the rule.

Intelligent major race dominating the Imperium and several additional interstellar communities. Humans stand approximately 1.8 meters in height and weigh about 100 kilograms. Descended from omnivore gatherers, humans developed intelligence in response to shifting climatological factors.
The most unusual aspect of humaniti is the fact that humans are present on many different worlds and stand at various levels of development on those worlds. The Solomani Hypothesis states that Humans evolved on Terra (Solomani Rim 1827) and were scattered to many different worlds by the Ancients for reasons currently unknown. The result is that many different, parallel human races exist, and coexist throughout known space.
The three most widespread human races are the Solomani (humans from Terra), the Vilani (humans from Vland), and the Zhodani (humans from Zhodane).
The other human races are either minor or variants.

Human is a Type of Monster Card only used in the anime, during one of Carly's fantasies. She imagined herself letting a Deck full of "King of All" cards fly around freely.
"King of All", which features Carly's crush Jack Atlas in its artwork is the only card shown with such a Type. The card itself is not real, only a part of Carly's imagination.
