From Coronation Street Wiki

A counter-culture social movement centred around 'free love', the Hippies invaded the Street early in 1968.

After accepting an invitation to attend a New Year Party at No.11 the hippies refused to leave and attempted to start a commune. Having been described by Annie Walker as 'devil worshippers' and being evicted by Edward Wormold the landlord, the commune moved on, thwarting Lucille Hewitts attempts to join them.

Amongst the members was Monica Sutton whose sister Jenny Sutton would go on to play a large part in the life of Dennis Tanner.
