Publisher's Summary

"Things go missing on Heritage. It's one of the hazards of living here. One of the many hazards."

Nobody visits Heritage. Why would they? Dry, dusty and hot, it's nothing but a failed mining colony too stupid to realise that it's actually dead. No-one wants to visit, least of all Ace. But the Doctor’s got his hearts set on a flying visit, just while they’re in the neighbourhood. That's when he finds out that Heritage wants visitors just as much as visitors want them.

So, while Ace is getting friendly with the locals, the Doctor is trying his best to convince them he’s not interested in their secrets. All he wants is a few quiet days and a nice cup of tea.

Trouble is, secrets have a way of unearthing themselves when the Doctor’s around. Whether he wants them to or not.

"We have to hide you. He will come for you, Padmé, and through you will find his children. That cannot happen. He will corrupt them. The dark side is seductive, and would be too much for them to resist. They must never know their heritage. Not until the time is right, at least."
—Obi-Wan Kenobi to Padmé Skywalker

Heritage is a stand-alone alternate universe story written by Aurrasingrules101. Set within the New Jedi Order era, the novel introduces Padmé Amidala into the New Jedi Order time period.

Contents

Preface

Padmé Skywalker did not die after the birth of her children. Instead, she escapes into hiding, only to be uncovered over forty years later at the onset of war in the New Republic. Her daughter, Leia, has been kidnapped by a group of Force-sensitive invaders called the Baci. While the Solo/Skywalker clan attempt rescue, Padmé is found by her granddaughter Jaina on the backwater world of Nirauan.

As war engulfs the galaxy and the hope of ever retrieving Leia grows thinner by the day, they all must come to terms with some very harsh realities, and have the limits of their love tested to the max.

Katana Geldar concurred with the positive reception, saying that her rule "with a good Alternate Universe story is not to change just one thing but several and this has been achieved masterfully in Heritage". On October 23, 2008, Enser also nominated Heritage for featured work status on the Star Wars Fanon Wiki, a distinction that showcases fan fiction works "of superior quality" that are "worthy of posting as examples of the wiki's finest works". The nomination is still pending.[1]
