Cathryn Helen Wigglesworth (born 7th January, 1951 in Leeds) is British actress best known for he role on Coronation Street as Gail Platt, a part she has played from 1974 to the present day. She was brought up in Morecambe and became mesmerised by actors through her grandmother's boarding house. Her other credits include Doctor Who, Oliver!, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Within These Walls and Z Cars which she appeared in at the age of ten years old.

Helen was married for ten years to actor Michael Angelis, who had appeared in a minor role on the Street in 1972.
