From TARDIS Index File, the free Doctor Who reference.

Haiti was a country located in the Caribbean.

The Doctor, Ace and Bernice Summerfield accidentally went there in 1915 when trying to visit Ernest Hemingway in nearby Key West, Florida. Once there, they met Francois Lacombe, a native of the Alsace region of France. While there, they prevented Mait Lemaitre from summoning Cthulhu. (NA: White Darkness, NA: All-Consuming Fire)

From Lostpedia

A devastating earthquake measured 7.0 has hit the Island of Haiti, virtually destroying the densely populated capital Port-Au-Prince, leaving an estimated 50,000 - 100,000 dead and an estimated 3 million people, one third of all inhabitants of the country, affected by the loss of their homes, lives and loved ones. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, and there is great danger that those who survived the initial quake and after shocks will now be subject to starvation, diseases and unclean water that are common after a major disaster of this type.

They need your help. Desperately.

We don't normally get involved with things like this, but with a disaster so widespread and sudden as the one in Haiti, we felt we should at least try and sign post our users to the places they can get involved to try and help, in whatever way they can, to ease the suffering of the people of Haiti.

We have included a news report from ITN News on the situation, but please be aware there are scenes that some people may find upsetting.

From all at Lostpedia, please, if you can help, even if its just $1/£1/€1, please do. Every little goes towards saving the lives of thousands of those less fortunate than ourselves. If every member of LP donated an average of $10 over $18,000,000 would be raised to help, so as you can see, every single cent and penny counts. Thank you.

To count towards the matched donations, the donations must be :

  • made by an individual Canadian;
  • made to a registered Canadian charitable organization that is receiving donations in response to the January 12 Haiti earthquake;
  • specifically earmarked by such organizations for the purpose of responding to the earthquake; and,
  • made between January 12 and February 12, 2010.

The government will not match donations made by corporations, governments, businesses, partnerships, schools, incorporated or non-incorporated entities, or unions from their existing resources that were not raised from individuals specifically in response to the earthquake. However, amounts raised from fundraising events undertaken to raise money from individuals in response to the earthquake are eligible, and this fundraising may be undertaken by schools, faith-based organizations, clubs, social groups, businesses, incorporated entities, or charitable organizations.
