Bestiary Entry

Derivation: Coeurl

Coeurl given to frenzied bursts of strength. Hunted in the Tchita Uplands.

Grimalkin has a 10% chance of replacing one of the Coeurls in the Uazcuff Hills area of the Tchita Uplands. Zoning out two areas (easiest done by going east to the Cerobi Steppe) and checking each Coeurl for the spawn is necessary every trip.

Grimalkin was the name of the witches' cat familiar in Macbeth by William Shakespeare.

A grimalkin is defined as an old or evil-looking she-cat. The term stems from gray (the color) plus "malkin", an archaic word for cat. Scottish legend makes reference to the grimalkin as a fairy cat which dwells in the highlands.

First appearance

Avengers Vol 3 #2
(March, 1998)

Grimalkin was Tigra altered by Morgan Le Fay's reality distortion wave. The wave caused the time period to be altered to a medieval setting altering the Avengers clothing, speech patterns and thought processes. All of the Avengers involved believed themselves to be a part of the Queen’s elite guard known as the Queen’s Vengeance.

The Scarlet Witch, with the combined willpower of all the awakened Avengers, pumped power into Wonder Man, shifting reality back to normal, and defeated Morgan in the process.
