Other Information When encountered in the Omega Ruins, it will always ambush the party.

The Great Malboro of Final Fantasy X is a stronger version of the standard Malboro which is encountered in the Omega Ruins and also inside Sin. When fought inside the Omega Ruins, Great Malboro will always begin every battle by ambushing the party and unleash Bad Breath on the party. Since Bad Breath can inflict status effects like Poison, Confusion, Darkness, and Berserk, it is a good idea to equip active party members with armor that is resistant to some of these effects. Having one active member equipped with a First Strike weapon will make the fight slightly easier; if that character has Delay Buster, you can even defeat it before it takes its first turn, but be aware that it will counter this move with a Swallow attack, which is similar to Sand Worms and Land Worms, but it immediately regurgitates the character, dealing moderate damage. Having a member Doublecast a Fire-elemental spell is also very useful, as Great Malboro is weak to Fire.
