The Grand Canyon is a natural formation on Earth, located in Arizona, which is part of the United States of America. By the 24th century, the Grand Canyon has been a popular tourist destination for several hundred years.
As a child, Leonard McCoy visited the Grand Canyon with his grandfather, T.J. McCoy. (TOS short story: "Make-Believe") Years later, he spent two weeks rafting down the Grand Canyon just before starting his assignment on the USS Enterprise. (TOS novel: Enterprise: The First Adventure)
Shortly after meeting Siddhe, Christopher Pike decided to show her his home world. One of the sights that they visited was the Grand Canyon. (TOS novel: Burning Dreams)
Edward Janeway referred to the Grand Canyon as "Earth's biggest ditch." His daughter Kathryn Janeway felt the area was too dusty, preferring farm country such as that around Bloomington, Indiana. (VOY novel: Imperfection)
The Grand Canyon is a gorge carved by the Colorado River and located in Arizona. Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent for preservation of the area, and folk legend states that the canyon was created by Paul Bunyan.

| The following is based on Van Buren and has not been confirmed by canon sources. |
Due to uranium demand shortly before The War, the U.S. government removed the Grand Canyon's status as a national park and allowed private mining companies to exploit its supply of uranium. The resulting mess was an environmental disaster. As a result, the Canyon has become one of the deadliest places in the wasteland, home to hideous mutants seen nowhere else. Sane people avoid it.
The player was supposed to enter the canyon to locate the remains of the second B.O.M.B. orbital station. On the way, he'd encounter a handful of characters, including scavengers and Victor Presper's soldiers.
Given Grand Canyon's size, transportation over to the other side is difficult. As such, before the war, a sky tram was constructed allowing safe passage over to the other side. However, after the war, most of the mechanism was scavenged - the player would then have the opportunity to locate the lost machinery (irreplaceable after the war) and restore the tram to full functionality.

Basically, a non-functioning tram bridges the gap between these two locations at the top of the Canyon. Getting the tram working enables a shortcut for trade routes. At the South Campsite is the Camper, the trailer attachment which can serve as a portable science lab.
Ruins inhabited by mutant creatures. The Grand Canyon was stripped of its protected status by the US government and opened up for uranium mining. The mining companies weren't environmentally friendly and the floor is littered with broken machinery and industrial waste.
One of the B.O.M.B. satellites eventually fell out of orbit and crashed near the canyon. Getting to its computer core is the Prisoner's primary objective for this area. However, the crash site is inaccessible due to the ocean of toxic waste and sheer canyon walls.
Also critical path - the PC must travel through this area, reactive some of the mining equipment, and tunnel through to get to the B.O.M.B. site.
About 5ft tall. Oversized cranium springs from normal-sized jaw. Long fingers and nails-turned-claw.
The Grand Canyon did not appear nor was mentioned (except for a small remark by Harold in Fallout 2) in any of the published games, but was to appear in the canceled Fallout 3 project by Black Isle codenamed Van Buren. It is not certain if it will appear in any future Fallout game.

The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the United States state of Arizona. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
Many years ago, a Russian agent named Boris Monguski staged an elaborate hoax in which he assumed the identity of an alien conqueror named Mongu. As Mongu, Monguski openly challenged Earth's mightiest mortal to fight him in mortal combat. The gamma-radiated super-being known as the Hulk accepted the challenge and met with Mongu on a peak in the Grand Canyon. The Hulk exposed Monguski's ploy and apprehended him and his soldiers. [1]
Years later, the Grand Canyon was the sight of a massive three-way battle between the mutated dinosaur Godzilla, a giant man-ape named Yetrigar, and the robotic Red Ronin. A S.H.I.E.L.D. tactical team led by Timothy "Dum Dum" Dugan intercepted the monsters, but Yetrigar used his massive strength to bring the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier down to the ground. Red Ronin tried to keep the monsters from destroying one another, but was forced to turn his weaponry against Yetrigar, burying him beneath a mountain of boulders and debris. [2]
Years later, Bobbi Morse, the Avenger known as Mockingbird wanted to go to the Grand Canyon to investigate the Slade family. She believed that archaeologist Hamilton Slade had knowledge that might implicate her in the murder of his 19th century ancestor Carter Slade. To cover up her true motivations, she told her teammates in the West Coast Avengers that their sojourn was intended solely as a sight-seeing expedition. As a former agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Morse knew of the region where the Yetrigar had been buried. While exploring the canyon, she surreptitiously tossed an explosive into the canyon, awakening the slumbering creature. While her fellow Avengers fought with the Yetrigar, Mockingbird tracked down Hamilton Slade. [3]
