Origin
Origin
Several years ago, members of the
Super Friends assisted various super-heroes from other countries against the threat of an alien menace known as Grax. Such heroes included Godiva, Impala, Owlwoman and Seraph. After several more team-ups together, these heroes discovered other international champions and banded together as the Global Guardians. Acquiring a charter with the United Nations, the Global Guardians established themselves at their headquarters, the Dome, in Paris, France. Two of the Guardians' members, Green Flame and Icemaiden, would later go on to join the International branch of the
Justice League.

Trivia
- The creation of the Global Guardians may have been inspired by animation studio Hanna-Barbera's attempts to add ethnic diversity to their Super Friends animated television projects.[citation needed] In 1978, Hanna-Barbera created several diverse characters who were exclusive to the TV series, and were not part of the accepted comic book canon. Such heroes include: Apache Chief, Black Vulcan, El Dorado and Samurai.
