Gillian Hewley is a character from Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-, the mother of Angeal Hewley and the original host for Project G. She is voiced by Masako Ikeda in Japanese and by Takayo Fischer in English.

Story

Before the events of Crisis Core, Gillian, while working with Shinra's science department, met with Dr. Hollander and became a part of his experiment. Whilst he was still in Shinra, Hollander tried to surpass Professor Hojo and create a Cetra before him and anybody else. This experiment was named "Project Gillian". Using Gillian Hewley as a subject, he infused her with Jenova cells. When she became pregnant, the result was Angeal Hewley.

There was another child used in the experiment. This one was not born from Gillian herself, but injected with her cells while still a fetus. It was this project that created Genesis Rhapsodos. This time, Genesis was injected with Gillian's cells while a fetus, however this experiment was imperfect. To be exact, all of it was. He was the son of the Banora's landlord.

Death

Zack Fair would later be sent to investigate the hometown of both Genesis and Angeal, and would meet Gillian Hewley. Zack asks Gillian what is with the sword that Angeal never uses, which is the Buster Sword. It would turn out that the sword is the family's pride, and Angeal earlier on in the game tells him that he does not want it to get rusty. During a second visit, it would appear as if Angeal had killed his mother, drastically changing the way Zack saw Angeal. It would seem that her body was cremated when the village was destroyed by bombs, and left to burn. Later, Zack discovers through Dr. Hollander that Gillian in fact committed suicide because the shame of participating in the experiments became too great.
