The Ghostmaker was the leader of the Night Travellers. He had the appearance of a ringleader of a circus called The Joshua Joy Traveling Show. He and the rest of the Night Travellers got trapped in film but when the Electro re-opened and a piece of film was played the Ghostmaker and Pearl were released. The duo went around Cardiff collecting the life force and 'final breath' of individuals and creating ghosts. He and Pearl retrieved the rest of the film from Jonathan Penn's workshop and released the rest of the Night Travellers, together they believed they owned the world. He ran when he saw Jack Harkness with a film camera and when Jack and Ianto Jones cornered him he threw the bottle containing the last breaths, most were released, all but one. Jack captured the Ghostmaker and exposed the untreated film, seemingly destroying him and the other Night Travellers, but feared that other rolls of old film may contain them and they might once again escape. Born in the Soviet Union, Ghost Maker's father was a high-ranking KGB member who trained his son martial arts for the 15 years. His training was completed when he killed 10 top Western spies. While attacking a Sussex military camp, he came into conflict with Shang-Chi and his associate Leiko Wu. However, during one of their battles, Ghost Maker got exposed to raindrops containing death-dust and it appeared nothing but his skeleton remained.A cult known as the Snakeroot resurrected the Ghost Maker to fight both Daredevil and Elektra. However, he failed, especially when the two were joined by Shang-Chi. Elektra had enough of the fighting and killed the Ghost Maker once again using one of her sais. His corpse was later retrieved by the villanous organization known as the Hand, who resurrected Ghost Maker once again to become their loyal servant. However, Ghost Maker fell into comic limbo since and what became of this association is at this point unknown.
Ghost Maker reappeared during the Civil War event and when the registration law was announced, he wanted to leave the country again. He contacted Vienna to make him a new fake identity, but he didn't know Vienna was secretly working for the Heroes for Hire, who later apprehened Ghost Maker and several other supervillains. Shang-Chi was also part of this team.
