"Even if the morrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forestall my return. To become the dew that quenches the land, to spare the sands, the seas, the skies, I offer thee this silent sacrifice."

Genesis Avatar is a boss in Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-. He is fought in Banora Underground.

Genesis Avatar himself cannot be damaged by physical attacks, however, he can be damaged by Magic attacks (such as Thundaga and its variations, with the exception of Thundaga Blade). When he lowers his sword, you are able to attack the Materia on it as well. Genesis Avatar will summon some G Shadow units, each with their own weapons and abilities, to distract Zack from attacking the Giant materia. The physical attacking G Shadows are relatively easy to defeat, however the Magic G Shadows will be a little more trouble if all you depend on are physical attacks. Be sure to have a mastered spell materia or two (such as Blizzaga or Firaga) to be able to defeat them. Be sure to have both Wall and Regen active when the battle begins, or if you do not have either, high Vitality/Spirit and a mastered Curaga will be a great help.

Genesis Avatar will also summon Materia from the Lifestream floor and cast few magical spells such as Flare or Firaga. Luckily these spells are easy to avoid. He will also attack with the Limit Break Purgatorial Wave, which will cause tremendous damage to Zack, and is unavoidable. Having the Raise status active is useful as well.
