A detailed image of a Gatekeeper.

The Gate keeper is a tree like figure who guards the gate to the Zanaris market area. He will only let players pass if he is paid one cut diamond. He says that the diamond is used to make fairy lights. He guards the dragon dagger and dragon longsword shop, and the gem market.

He says the gatekeeper that was there before the Zanaris update was his father. When asked about this, he replies "I got my good looks from my mother."

Trivia

  • Mod Biscuits stated on the Official Runescape Forums that "The Gatekeepers were originally referred to as Mindslayers by the original developer of the fairy storyline. We still sometimes refer to them as Mindslayers even now. It's just an internal name we use for the Gatekeepers." and that the mindslayers will also be receiving a graphic update along with the Fairies.[1]
  • Gatekeepers may also come from the movie Ghostbusters in which it is a monster from another world that opens a door to another dimension

A holocron gatekeeper.

"Gatekeeper" was the term used for the artificial personality that granted a user access to the information within a holocron. The gatekeeper was usually based upon the creator of the particular holocron. The gatekeepers of Sith holocrons were sometimes the consciousnesses of the certain Sith who actually created them. They taught the finders of the holocron everything that the creator had discovered in their life.

File:The Gatekeeper.gif NPC The Gatekeeper
Location: Rookgaard premium town, here.
Occupation: Oracle
Notes: The Gatekeeper was removed from Rookgaard in the Update 8.2.

The Gatekeeper had occupied the second floor of a small shrine-like building. This was then replaced by a wood shack. The shack moved and the area has been replaced with water after Update 8.4, which in particular revamped the premium side of Rookgaard.
The Gatekeeper used to teleport premium characters from Rookgaard to the Mainland, there is also The Oracle, on the free account side, who did the same.
The difference between The Oracle and The Gatekeeper were your choices of what city to live in. The Gatekeeper could teleport you to Darashia, Ankrahmun, Port Hope, Liberty Bay, Ab'Dendriel or Kazordoon.

Looked like an angel statue.
Items traded: None.
