The For All Kids Foundation was founded by Rosie O'Donnell in 1997. It is a publicly funded organization which provides non-profit organizations funding for at-risk children, parents, care-givers and teachers. The foundation's mission statement states, "every child is a gift, strengthening our community, our humanity, and our hope for the future."

Elmo appeared at the 4th Annual White Rose Awards Gala on November 13, 2001, which benefited the children of New York City Fire Fighters, Police Department and the Port Authority for New York and New Jersey after the September 11th attacks.

When Miss Piggy appeared on The Rosie O'Donnell Show, she auctioned off her glove for the charity, as did Kermit the Frog and Gonzo with their craft jackets worn on the show.

O'Donnell has also released merchandise specifically for the charity, including the 1999 CD A Rosie Christmas.
