"Firefly" was written by Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh as an audition for the musical Gypsy, which would eventually be composed by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim. The song, which had originally been intended for the character of Baby June, was instead recorded and popularized by Tony Bennett.

Tony performed "Firefly" as a duet with Kermit the Frog as the opening number of episode 106 of Muppets Tonight. This number also featured Spamela Hamderson, in a dress that eventually caused some explosions.

Tony and Kermit would later reprise the song on the album The Playground.

From TibiaWiki

A firefly is not a creature but they do really exist. You can see them in Ab'dendriel and also in Tiquanda, at night flying around, something what already was announced in the first Official Update Teaser.
Here it sais: Finally, when it gets dark and you look very closely, you might spot one of the little fireflies that Santa has left in this area to brighten the gloomy sky at night-time.

Traveller

Up to date as of February 05, 2010

From Traveller Wiki - Science-Fiction Adventure in the Far future

The television show Firefly has been consistently mentioned as a prime candidate for Traveller advocacy -- or, at least, use as a Traveller alternate setting. This is one way it can be done.

Firefly-class Transports

Firefly-class ships are meant to be discontinued small freighters, made in such large numbers or using such generic parts that using them is reasonable, and even cheap. The closest Traveller analogue is the 400-ton "Fat Merchant". Using the Merchant as the guideline for the Firefly adaptation, Known Space is therefore probably grouped mostly into a huddled Jump-1 main.

Tech Level

Despite the Alliance's multi-million-ton frontier cruisers, their limited number of worlds in close proximity hints that tech may be lower than that of the Imperium: TL 12 seems reasonable.

The Alliance Quadrant

From basic information about the Firefly universe, any number of Traveller-style starcharts can be constructed. Assuming that most of the worlds are grouped into a jump-1 main, this is one of them.
