Fidel Castro was the leader of Cuba.
When Earth was invaded by Dominators, Castro and his aides were attacked by Durlans. They escaped Havana, but were subsequently replaced by the shapeshifting Durlans.
Castro encountered the Flash and Chunk in the Cuban jungle. With the help of the Flash, Castro was able to regain control of his country. At superspeed, Flash replaced the fake Durlan Castro with the real Castro in the midst of a speech. The real Castro subsequently told all Durlans to reveal their true forms. This showed Cubans everywhere who the invaders were, and the people fought back.
As a sign of gratitude, Castro threw a huge birthday party for Flash's twenty-first birthday.
A few remaining Durlans masqueraded as Cuban freedom fighters and hired Manhunter to kidnap Castro for them. However, it was all just a ploy to allow them to escape from Earth.
