The Federation mining freighter was a type of mining freighter used by the United Federation of Planets in the 24th century.

The freighters were outfitted with a reinforced hull which made them capable of carrying large quantities of unprocessed materials, such as dilithium or latinum.

As well as a reinforced hull, the freighters were equipped with heavy shielding which allowed them to take heavy damage during combat. Unfortunately, the freighters weren't equipped with any offensive capabilities. (TNG video games: Armada, Armada II)
