The Experiment is a boss from Final Fantasy X-2. Its stats depend on the assemblies dug up from Bikanel. It is no threat until it hits its maximum level, at which it can use its powerful Annihilator ability, of which can be learned as a Blue Bullet. Having Protect up at the start of the battle helps lessen the amount of damage it can deal to the party, while carrying several Mega-Potions and focusing around using Power Break (in the European version, it is immune) and Armor Break will go a long way. It can only be fought once each time until Level 5, and once the player runs out of repairing manuals and if it is not defeated at Level 5, the player will be unable to fight it at Level 5.

Runescape

Up to date as of February 07, 2010

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Experiments can be found in the Experiment Cave which can be accessed during Creature of Fenkenstrain quest. Completing the whole quest is not required to kill them, as you can simply push the farthest memorial from the castle and you will enter finding quite a few of them.

The level 25 experiments are the Lambwolf (left of the picture) and the Spiderman (middle of the picture). They both give 400 experience, hit very low, and have a lot of health for their level, making them two of the easiest monsters to level up combat skills. The experiments' respawn time is approximately 50 seconds. They have very low attack, strength, and defence, so most people do not bring armour when fighting these. It was one of the chief training tools before Pest Control first came out. Since the updates to Pest Control which lowered the experience gained by about 30%, it is once again considered one of the best combat training tools in RuneScape. There are seven Experiment spawns in the Experiment cave, four Lambwolves and three Spidermen. There is always one kind beside another.

The level 51 experiment is the Horsewoman (right of the picture) and may only be killed once (unless you drop the cavern key obtained by killing it) during the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest. It is significantly stronger than the level 25 experiments, with a max hit of 7.

Experiments are comparable to Hill Giants in free to play worlds in that it is normally a battle around each spawn point to gain the experience, although these are much better for training, and normally less crowded.

It is a good place for training pures, especially if you have sacred clay equipment, as then you will get a massive 800 experience per kill, and few other training monsters can rival the speed and lack of food that you need for these.

Note: Training Magic against the Experiments may not be cost-effective considering they have no drops (other than bones) to offset the cost of runes.

Trivia

  • The Lambwolf may refer to the saying "A wolf in sheep's clothing", or possibly a sheep dog. The possibility of "sheepdog" may come also from the Beatles' song "Hey Bulldog", where they sing "Sheepdog".
  • The Spiderman may refer to Spider-Man. In the game, when right-clicked, it is shown as 'Experiment' and does not have a proper name unlike the others. It is probably not named 'Spiderman' due to terms of name copyright.
  • The Horsewoman may refer to a female Centaur.
  • An Experiment bone, which differs from the usual bones dropped by Experiments, are common drops used in the Rag and Bone Man quest. This bone cannot be buried.
  • When calculating combat level the only way this creature can have combat level 25 and 100 hp, is if all of its other combat statistics are 1. This is however dependant on whether RuneScape monsters without armour use the same combat calculating methods as players, and whether unofficial calculators are precisely accurate.
  • Despite being half-wolf and half-sheep, the attack sound for the Lambwolf is the same as any normal wolf rather than a sheep or ram.
  • When attempting to kill the level 51 Horsewoman after killing her at Creature of Fenkenstrain quest, a message appears saying: "You don't have the heart to kill the poor creature again."
  • Calculated with a combat level calculator and entering 100 hitpoints level it seems that their defence, attack, strength and other combat related skill levels are 1. This is pretty much normal as they hit very rare, have bad defence and have a max hit of 1.
  • The heads and bodies of the experiments still have very old graphics and has yet to be updated.
  • Even though the experiments are crossed between two monsters of different races, like sheep and wolf, they still drop regular bones.
  • The head of the Spiderman appears to be the default head of a player-character when creating one during the tutorial.
