This battle is fought with Galuf alone. It is special in that it is scripted, so Galuf cannot die during the battle, even if his HP goes down to 0. It is impossible to lose unless the player intentionally makes Galuf zombify or petrify himself.

This battle will be pretty tough, as he will occasionally inflict Condemn onto one of the party members, giving them 30 seconds before death. Revive that character immediately, and in the meantime use strong attacks and cast Golem. Also if the player has it, throw the Excalipoor at Exdeath, which will deal about 3,500 HP of damage to him! Watch for him to use his Dynamo; its not much but it completely rearranges the party's row positions so all front row people are going to be in the back row and vice versa. Immediately switch back to the original rows once he has done this, because it can seriously affect the party's performance in this battle. The strategy here should also include Staves of Light so Holy can be cast on him for a while, doing over 2,000 damage in one hit for every one you have. If you have not already obtained these staves it is highly recommended that you go back to Ghido's Cave and steal a few from Metamorphs so you may be effective in this battle, especially if you are severely underleveled. Make sure to have at least one Knight! Have him use Rapid Fire if he has learned it and equip him with the Blood Sword, and also have him equip the Ice Shield if it has been obtained already, however if obtained the Aegis Shield will do the trick as well. Exdeath will use Firaga and Blizzaga in succession, this means that his Firaga attack will be useless as the character will have absorbed his Blizzaga attack. This means as much as 1,600 HP can be absorbed from Exdeath each round.
