The Etherians were a peaceful, intelligent, flying species who were encountered by the USS Voyager in a pocket dimension known as The Forge. Teams from Voyager boarded a Etherian ship while it was trapped in the graveyard around The Forge in their attempt at finding an interdimensional compound called isodesium which they would use to power their ship.

The Voyager Hazard Team began exploring the ship but gradually encountered increased resistance from the Etherian crew. Eventually, each member was captured but it was discovered that the Hazard Team had boarded an Etherian sleeper ship that was on a journey to a new homeworld when the Vorsoth probe transported them to the graveyard. After the establishment of peaceful relations, the Etherians and the Voyager crew became good friends.

In the final battle between the Vorsoth leader and Alexander Munro, the Etherians aided him in the destroying the Forge. It is believed that the Etherian sleeper ship returned on its journey to its new homeworld.

Technology

Not much is known about Etherian technology except that it appears to be bio-mechanical. The full capabilities of their technology is not known but individual Etherians were capable of firing electrical bolts of energy which may have been either natural or mechanical. They also possessed internal 'spawn' transporters which may have transported Etherians into stasis when they got injured. Mechanical drones also protected the ship and a type of energy 'drone' regenerated damaged system with abilities that may have been a form of replicator technology. They also possessed the ability to either create or use the isodesium compound.

They also developed a weapon called an Etherian Stasis Weapon.
