In starship classification, an escort is designated as being a small starship which is generally given a protection role, moving with less maneuverable ships or vessels with lighter armament. Escorts can further be classified as fast escorts or heavy escorts. Light escorts are also called corvettes.
In 2371, the Defiant-class was officially designated as being an escort, although its use was thought to be a euphemism, as the Defiant-class was described as being one of the most powerful warships in the Alpha Quadrant. (DS9 novelization: The Search; DS9 episode: "Defiant")

Cherry's Freedom is an unmarked Fallout 3 quest.
If you talk to Cherry, one of Dukov's escorts at Dukov's Place, she will ask you to escort her to Rivet City. You can just leave Dukov's and use fast travel to take her directly there. The reward is a Karma boost. Also, you will be able to find Cherry wandering around Rivet City after the quest.
This quest is automatically aborted after 5 game-days. You may take her to a house, in either Megaton or Tenpenny Tower, and leave her there for five days. Upon which the next time you visit she will tell you that your place wasn't part of the plan and she is going back to Dukov's. You cannot restart this quest ever after.
You can use this escort as incentive for her to steal Dukov's key for You Gotta Shoot 'Em in the Head.
Escort is a game type in Halo 3 multiplayer mode. It is a game of VIP where the VIP must reach a certain location before moving on to then next, like Race. The VIP starts out with a M6G. Rounds end when the countdown ends, the VIP dies, or all locations are reached by the VIP. The team with the most points after four rounds wins.
An escort is a small, limited-role starship built to serve as escorts for transports, cargo convoys and other larger vessels. Escorts usual are relatively well armed and fast so to act as a deterrent against threats. (LUG RPG: Spacedock: The Advanced Starship and Construction Manual)
The Cardassians tended to lump escorts and scouts together as they were very similar in capabilities. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 2: Starships of the Cardassian Union)
Klingons preferred the heavier armed heavy escort and destroyer escort over standard escorts as they felt they were not equipped with enough weapons. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 3: Ships of the Klingon Empire)
The Romulan Bird-of-Prey and Swift Bird-of-Prey were their escort equivalents. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 5: Starships of the Romulan Star Empire)
Escorts are vessels intended to protect and assist larger vessels. They are capable of independent action, but are usually assigned to support Battleships and Cruisers.
The mainstay of the escort fleet is the ED series.
These escort destroyers are typical of Imperial needs. The ED-13, derived from the ED-12, was relatively unsuccessful, and the naval architects returned to the ED-12 for inspiration for the later ED-14.
The EF-12 served as the design basis for two divergent ship types: the escort fleet (and later escort strike designs) and the escort missile EM-13/-15.
