Eric S. Trautmann is an American science fiction author associated with Microsoft projects. He has also worked heavily in the Star Wars universe, co-authoring several Star Wars reference books. In addition, he began writing books for Xbox games starting with Crimson Skies, which he co-authored along with fellow Halo novelist Eric Nylund.

In Halo: Combat Evolved, Eric Trautmann did some writing for the story along with Matt Soell and Brannon Boren. He also is the author of the book The Art of Halo.

Eric Trautmann is married to the famous owner of Olympic Cards and Comics in Lacey, Washington, where he appears periodically as a guest speaker. His most recent work, on the Perfect Dark Zero comic is a source of some local celebrity. And is also currently working on the Checkmate property for DC Comics.
