Epsilon IX was a Starfleet communications array and subspace transceiver in operation in the 23rd century, and was located near Klingon space.

In 2273, Epsilon IX transmitted detailed information to Starfleet Command about the engagement between the V'Ger entity and three Klingon K't'inga-class battle cruisers. The station was subsequently destroyed by V'Ger as it passed near the station and interpreted it's sensor scans as hostile actions. (TOS movie: Star Trek: The Motion Picture)

"Captain Valek, we're approaching Communications Research Station Epsilon Nine."
―Unidentified Imperial ensign on board the Nebulon-B escort frigate Revenant

Epsilon Nine was a Communications Research Station located in the Cron Drift in service to the Galactic Empire. After the Empire was defeated during the final battle of the Galactic Civil War, the station attempted to defect to the New Republic. Dark Lady of the Sith Lumiya was dispatched by Imperial stewardess Ysanne Isard to travel to Epsilon Nine and forcefully bring them back into Imperial jurisdiction.
