Ena and Minnie remember him and they tell him of the death of Martha Longhurst six years previously. Len and Bet turn up at the Registry Office and surprise Alan and Elsie as their witnesses. Irma and Bet move into the flat. Elsie and Alan marry. The residents throw a surprise party at the Rovers for the Howards before they honeymoon in Paris. Ray tells Len that Alan, despite signs of wealth, owes them £350 and it looks as if he has money troubles.
