SCENE 1
At night, Susan writes a letter to her parents, and explains that since they live out of town, she likes to let them know what's going on around them as much as she can. She writes about the day that she had, and what happened first...

Telly is wailing because he got a splinter in his "favorite finger". Susan calms him down and takes care of it, and tells him what she did when she got a splinter in her favorite finger, and her favorite things that she could do with it. Once it's bandaged up, Telly thinks that he hears his finger beginning to heal.

Susan remembers another thing she can do with her favorite finger: tapping her cheek as she thinks.
