Members of the Enclave's scientific staff can be encountered on the Oil Rig in Fallout 2. Easily recognizable by their stark white lab coats, contrasting with the bleak, bluish interiors of their base, they are typically concerned with their ongoing project - development of the FEV Curling-13. By the time the Chosen One meets them in 2240s, they've already made it into a staggeringly effective killer and are fine tuning it just before release.

The scientists tend to become aggravated at the slightest signs of inconvenience from their environment, be it jarheads, malfunctioning IR-spectrometer or just plain bad luck.

In combat, their low damage resistance no armour at all) makes them easy to take out. However, since all members of the Enclave receive rudimentary military training, they are competent, if unconfident combatants.

Enclave Scientists are members of the Enclave R&D corps in the year 2277.

The scientist are the people that develop new and improved weaponry for the Enclave. Wearing a white, airtight environmental suit with an orange Plexiglas visor, they are easily identified amongst the Enclave's combatants. Although they are armed with AEP7 Laser Pistols and have had some combat training, they very rarely will they actually make use of them. With few exceptions, virtually every Enclave Scientist will flee rather than fight. They are without a doubt, the brains of the Enclave, not the muscle.

Daily schedule

Enclave scientists can be found working on their projects at several Enclave bases, such as Raven Rock and the Mobile Base Crawler.

Interactions with the player character

When confronted with the player, Enclave Scientists usually flee. Very few will actually fight the player. One can be observed to engage the player in the Mobile Base Crawler, using a scavenged Gatling Laser found nearby. They cannot be enslaved using the Mesmetron, but will attack if mezzed. They do not respawn, making their outfits numbered.
