Starfleet Academy

In 2374, Rand enrolled in Starfleet Academy. She was quickly overwhelmed and began to doubt very much whether this was the right path for her. However, she found reassurance in a fellow cadet, David Trigan, and quickly began to improve on her work.

Early career

As an ensign, Rand served aboard the USS Christopher Pike in 2378. Within a year she had been promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

In 2383 she transferred to the space station Beta Frontier after showing outstanding achievement and expressing a desire to have an assignment out in the farthest reaches of space.

Pioneer

In 2387 she successfully applied for transfer to the USS Pioneer after learning of its deep space exploration mission. She was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and became Chief Medical Officer.

Memorable quotes

"Yeah, well I also considered calling it Continuity reboot or Purist poison but I thought those two were a bit extreme."
— Explaining her memory altering syrum, an odd reference to some fan concerns that the eleventh Star Trek film will be a Continuity reboot.
