Memory Beta, the wiki for licensed Star Trek content.

An egg is the ovum of some forms of animal life, created by the female for reproduction. Many birds and reptiles, as well as some amphibians reproduce by laying eggs externally. These eggs are eaten as food on many planets throughout the known galaxy. On Earth, the eggs of a chicken are considered to be common breakfast fare. Including those of a fish. Also called "caviar", Deanna Troi developed a craving for this. As she herself de-evolved into an amphibian lifeform, native to pre-historic Betazed. (TNG episode: "Genesis") Jean-Luc Picard, in an alternate timeline future, compared the causality of the situation to the riddle of the "chicken and the egg", wondering whether the egg caused the chicken to come into existence, or if the chicken originated the egg. Because of the cyclical nature of both situations, where the end result leads back to the beginning cause. (TNG episode: "All Good Things...") Picard also kept a case stock of fish eggs from Earth for special occasions. As he felt replicators could not quite process and syntesize their quality. (TNG episode: "Sins of the Father" , TNG episode: "Deja Q")

Some sentient species also reproduce by laying eggs, while many intelligent and non-intelligent mammals internally utilize an egg as part of reproduction.

When Nog was offered an omelet by Vic Fontaine in 2376 he declined upon recalling Earth omelets were typically made with bird's eggs and flavoured mold, a thought which disgusted him. (DS9 novel: Avatar) However, former crewmember, Miles O'Brien was a fan of the traditional bacon and eggs breakfast. (TNG episode: "The Wounded", DS9 episode: "The Assignment")

Mystery Egg is an enemy from the game Final Fantasy IV. It contains a monster within, and if enough time expires during the battle, the egg will hatch, revealing a random monster inside. Destroying the Mystery Egg before this happens will prevent hatching, but no EXP or gil will be awarded.

While the Egg itself has 0 HP, it will take on the HP value of whatever monster is inside. In the Nintendo DS version, the Egg has a set HP of 10,000. In addition, it absorbs all elements and is immune to all status effects.

About Egg

A food product produced from poultry that is used as both an ingredient and a main dish for baked foods. Eggs have a hard shell of calcium carbonate enclosing a liquid white, a single yolk (or an occasional double yolk)and an air cell. The white or albumen is a clear liquid that turns to an opaque white when cooked or beaten. The yolk is orange to yellow in color, and becomes pale yellow when cooked to a solid form. The air cell increases in size as the egg ages and begins to lose moisture, thus decreasing in quality. Eggs can be cooked by boiling, poaching, frying, microwaving, or baking and they are one of the most common ingredients used for a variety of recipes. The types of eggs that are available for food preparation include chicken, duck, goose, turkey, and quail. Ostrich eggs are another variety of egg that is consumed, but are not readily available. Large in size, one ostrich egg equals 2 dozen standard size chicken eggs.

Runescape

Up to date as of February 07, 2010

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

This article is about chickens' eggs, which are used mainly in Cooking. For other uses, see Egg (disambiguation).

An Egg is an item used mainly in Cooking, for example to make cakes (in conjunction with a cake tin, a bucket of milk, and a pot of flour).

Players can convert an egg into a cockatrice egg by using the special move Ophidian Incubation from a spirit cobra familiar.

An egg is also needed in a few quests, for example Cook's Assistant.

Eggs can be a good source of coins for low levelled players as each inventory is worth approximately 1,500 coins.

Locations

An egg usually spawns near most chicken coops, including the farm north of Lumbridge, at Fred the Farmer's chicken coop, at the farm north of Port Sarim, at the chicken coop north east in Entrana, and in front of the Chicken Shrine outside the Evil Chicken's Lair in Zanaris. Sometimes, chickens will even "lay" eggs, but only after they "Squawk!".  The Culinaromancer's Chest in Lumbridge Castle basement sells 10 to players who have completed all parts of Recipe for Disaster.   It used to sell 50 but due to the shop update, it now only has 10 in its stock.

The evil chicken once was able to drop an egg during its random event, but this was removed to avoid confusion with the evil chicken's egg required for the Recipe for Disaster quest.

Imps will also drop them on occasion.

Starwars

Up to date as of February 04, 2010

From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.

Possible eggs served at a meeting of senators.

An egg was a method of giving birth among some species. Rather than giving birth live, a member of an egg-laying species would lay an egg containing the young, within which the young would grow to term and hatch. Many reptilian and avian species were known lay eggs, such as Quor'sav, kaadu, marlellos, nunas, fambaas, geejaws, and fanbacks.

Many species ate eggs of other creatures as a form of sustenance. Scrambling eggs was one alternate means of preparing them prior to consumption. Yam'rii were particularly fond of eggs, especially those of the Quor'sav. Eggs may have been served by Bail Organa during a secret meeting with other Senators regarding the start of a rebellion movement to counter the growing power of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine.

The Kitonak and the Nediji worshipped a deity known as the Cosmic Egg.
