-- Nite Owl II and The Comedian

Edward Morgan Blake had the longest crime fighting career out of all the costumed vigilantes. Edward Blake first started out as a crime fighter in the 1940's, under the alias, The Comedian. He was part of a group called the Minutemen, a group of eight masked crime fighting vigilantes. The group consisted of Captain Metropolis, Silk Spectre (Sally Jupiter) , The Comedian, Nite Owl (Hollis Mason), Hooded Justice, Dollar Bill, Mothman, and Silhouette. After a Meeting for the Minutemen, The Comedian walked into a room to find Silk Spectre changing. He then attempted to rape her. He was then stopped by hooded justice who then beat Blake up. The Minutemen then banned him from the group, and after being stabbed in the chest in 1941 he changed his green and purple costume to tough leather armor. Soon after the Minutemen disbanded in the 1950's, Blake was called to testify for the disappearance and killing of Hooded Justice, but he refused to testify. Nothing was ever proved against him. Then in the late 60's Blake joined a group called the Crimebusters (Captain Metropolis, Silk Spectre II, Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl II, Rorschach, The Comedian, and Ozymandias) led by Captain Metropolis, the meeting did not last long after the Comedian set fire to one of Metropolis's display, and told everybody that the group was a joke. After the the keene act in the 70's, the Comedian then joined in battle in Vietnam with Dr. Manhattan, and got a disfiguring scar on the left side of his face by a broken beer bottle. Then in October of 1985 he visited Edgar Jacobi a.k.a. Moloch while he was drunk a few days before someone broke into his apartment, beat him, and threw him out a window of a high-story building where he fell to the pavement, dead. Edward Blake's death is what kicks off the story of Watchmen, and the Watchmen symbol is his symbol, with a blood stain on it from being beaten. A funeral was held for Edward Blake in October of 1985. It is later relieved that Adrian Veidt(Ozymandias) threw him out the window, as a part of a plan.
