History
E.R.G.-1 was formerly a member of the
Legion of Super-Heroes, presumably the first member other than the founders. His containment suit was breached during a mission and he was believed to be dead.
[1] His brother,
Randall, managed to gather up his lost energies, but incorrectly claimed that Drake had to stay in a tank to survive, and that he could only leave the tank for one hour at a time.
[2]
E.R.G.-1, in his first suit.
He was manipulated by Randall to become an assassin-for-hire, and to kill the president of Lallor. He battled
Timber Wolf,
Atom Girl and
Shadow Lass, who tried to protect the president. Atom Girl eventually convinced Drake that he could get help from
Brainiac 5, who had figured that Drake had been manipulated and fooled by Randall. Drake became a new Legion candidate after that mission.

Trivia
- E.R.G.-1's first suit looks very much like that of the post-Zero Hour version of Wildfire/E.R.G.-1. E.R.G.-1's current suit looks like that of the original version of Wildfire/E.R.G.-1.
