The Dragon dagger is the strongest dagger available and can be wielded only by members who have at least level 60 Attack and have completed the Lost City quest. Dragon Daggers are affordable, accurate, fast, poison-able weapons that have a special attack, called Puncture, which consists of two quick strikes at your opponent, with slightly increased accuracy and damage than normal. Puncture uses 25% of the special attack bar. The Dragon dagger is extremely popular among players of all combat levels. Because of its special attack, it is a popular weapon in PvP combat as it's cheap but very effective. It is currently the most popular p2p PvP weapon.
Prices for a Dragon dagger vary according to its poison level. The un-poisoned dagger can be purchased in the Zanaris marketplace for 30,000 coins, from the travelling merchant Rasolo standing by the Baxtorian falls for 30,000 coins, at Blades by Urbi in Sophanem for 45,000 coins (from the player's own stock), and at the Grand Exchange in Varrock.
Alternatively, players with a high enough Hunter skill level can hunt Magpie Implings in the Impetuous Impulses minigame and potentially receive one as loot. The Dragon dagger is also a drop from a few high-levelled Revenants, found in the Wilderness.
With the release of the Dragon Claws the price of the dragon dagger has dropped. This is probably because the claws can hit harder (a +56 strength bonus compared to the +40 of the dragon dagger), are just as fast, and have an arguably better special attack. However, the sheer availability and much lower price of the dragon dagger remain a big selling point. Furthermore, Dragon claws are two-handed and lack the ability to be poisoned. The claws can hit up to around 46-23-12-10 (92) under perfect conditions, which equals a 184 with both specials, while under the same conditions, the dragon dagger can hit 50-50 four times for a total of 400 damage from 4 specials. However, in PvP, this damage would not be possible. When PKing, a dragon dagger is highly dependent on the player's attack bonuses and Attack level.
As of 13 January 2009, the dragon dagger and all its poisoned variants are now split on Coinshare.
Dragon daggers are usually very difficult to buy on the grand exchange and are often sold for over 50k to people with a high enough trade limit. People with a low trade limit often have to advertise buying the dagger for longer to people who don't want as much money for one.

The Dragon dagger's special attack, Puncture, consists of two quick strikes at your opponent, with slightly increased accuracy and damage than normal. High-level players, if lucky, can hit over 100 with a single special attack bar. Due to the fact that the special only uses 25% of the special attack bar, even a high-level opponent could be killed in a matter of seconds. This special is considered one of the best special attacks of the more affordable weapons in the game, and players will sometimes carry a dragon dagger in addition to their main weapon to cause 8 quick hits and a considerable chance of inflicting poison on their foe.
The highest known unglitched special so far is 56-56 which was done using a Castle Wars bracelet Turmoil ,Vesta's Body and legs, berserker ring (i), barrow gloves, dragon boots, an amulet of Strength, and a Dragonfire Shield . In normal conditions (e.g., in player-versus-player combat) 56-56 would not be possible.
Both Dragon daggers and Dragon longswords can only be used after completing the Lost City quest.
As with all Dragon equipment this item cannot be made from raw materials using the smithing skill. The Dragon platebody and the Dragon sq shield can be smithed from their component parts.
