Official BBC licensed Doctor Who merchandise has included since the mid 1980's almost regular calendar releases.
Calendar releases are a time-limited marketing opportunity and production numbers are difficult to judge and so are usually either of limited availability (short supply) or heavily discounted to clear stocks in the new year (over supplied).
Also included below are related calendar items and spin-off calendars, namely Torchwood (also by the BBC) and Dalek Calendars negotiated with the Terry Nation Estate who hold the Dalek license.

1986

Doctor Who – The Calendar (1986) Release Date: July 1985

  • Cover depicts the Sixth Doctor.
  • Published by Andrew Skilleter's company, after the US licence had expired, this was a very successful first venture selling 20, 000 copies in the USA alone and showcased the artists work.

1987

Doctor Who – The Calendar (1987) Release Date: September 1986

  • Cover depicts the Sixth Doctor.
  • Artwork by Andrew Skilleter.
  • With a decline in interest in Doctor Who the BBC agreed to a promotion with Golden Wonder crisps. As well as mini-comics the promotion included an offer on the 1987 calendar.
  • A special printing on thinner card and paper was arranged but demand was greater than expected and ultimately surplus stock was bought from the American distributor.

1988

Doctor Who 25 Years of a Time Lord – The Calendar 1988 Release Date: September 1987

  • Cover depicts the Sixth Doctor.
  • Andrew Skilleter was having difficulty with a heavy workload and with time running short for the 25th Anniversary calendar he enlisted the help of Stuart Hughes who had worked on The Companions and provided 6 additional pieces.

1989

Doctor Who – The Calendar 1989 Release Date: August 1988

  • With a new Doctor Who logo, this calender was in the larger A3 format with bigger illustrations. The cover design was done in London with the rest being done by andrew Skilleter.

This calendar was dedicated to Ron Embleton a good friend who had recently died and saw the artist move from airbrush to acrylics.

1990

  • With a cover featuring the Seventh Doctor, the 1990 Doctor Who calendar from Who Dares Publishing was aborted.

1993

Doctor Who 30th Anniversary Calendar Release Date: May 1992

  • Cover artwork depicts all seven Doctors and the TARDIS.
  • Featured artwork from Colin Howard, Paul Vyse, Alistair Pearson, Les Edwards, Alistair Hughes, Lee Sullivan, Brian Hudd, Pete Wallbank and Mark Oldroyd.
  • This high quality anniversary calendar eventually sold some 4,000 copies.

Vision Publications, UK, a company set up by authors David J Howe, Stephen James Walker and Mark Stammers specifically to release a high quality 30th Anniversary Doctor Who Calendar in May 1995.

1996
