The being called Djinn.

Djinn is a malevolent, omnipotent being with a deep hatred of humanity.

Djinn was responsible for the eventual insanity of Armand St. John, allowing him to believe he had created a machine allowing him to pull parallel versions of himself from an alternate universe. By the time that the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) crew revealed this deception for what it was, Djinn destroyed the colony on Leora IV, claiming that they were close to a discovery that would allow humanity to evolve into a type of being with powers rivaling that of Djinn. Spock would later theorize that Djinn's hatred of humanity was simply the result of a realization that humanity would eventually surpass his race. His race, in question, may have begun the antiquated Earth legends of "Genie"s and their supposed magic powers. (TOS comic: "All of Me")

Race: Djinn

Allakhazam's

The Djinn of the Desert of Ro originate from The Plane of Sky. Various portals created by conjurers intent on gaining greater power allowed the Djinn to cross over. In some cases, they remained in the service of their summoning masters. In others, they tricked their way free... for a time.

Since Djinn are not native to the primary plane of existence, they suffer the same degradation that many similar beings do when separated from their home dimension for too long. Because of this, the Djinn must maintain some sort of link to the essence of their plane of origin. For the Djinn of The Desert of Ro, these existential anchors come in the form of the container with which the being is associated.

Lamps, flasks, boxes, vases and various forms of jewelry have all been used to house Djinn. The specific shape of the object and the materials used have an unknown correlation to the type of Djinn an item can support. What is obvious is that the object (or the materials it is made from) has to have originated from The Plane of Sky. Since all elements of a given plane are metaphysical extensions of the plane itself, it makes sense that the Djinn require such objects to maintain themselves.

NOTE: Djini is the singular form of Djinn

Flame Djinn

Djinn are spirits with deep ties to the Elonian continent, usually bound to spiritually strong areas. In some Elonian legends, they have the power to act unseen. Like humans, they’re allegedly capable of choosing a path of good or evil. In a sense, djinn really can act unseen—many are shapeshifters, capable of assuming a human form when interacting with human beings and other species. Some Vabbian myths describe the djinn as protectors of the natural world, making them enemies of unnatural demons from other dimensions.

Most djinn are bound to the locations and places they protect, most commonly rivers, lakes, and stretches of desert. When humans first came to Elona, truly powerful wizards attempted to bind djinn to estates, caves, vaults, or other places where wealth was hidden. Djinn guardians who outlive their masters may forget their original commands, or they may become powerful enough to find their own motives.

Djinn are relentless when defending the items, places, and causes they protect, but they may also bestow their favor on people who aid them in those tasks. Vabbi legends hint at djinn granting wishes and bestowing powers. In more recent accounts, adventurers have shared stories of djinn who offered them magical knowledge and powerful magical items... including some salvaged from mighty heroes who dared to disturb the djinn.

"Every student is obliged to make one-thousand-eighty major mistakes. The sooner you make them, the sooner you will not have to make them anymore. Thinking there's a list of mistakes is mistake number four."
―Djinn Altis

Djinn Altis was a male Human Jedi Master who served the Jedi Order during the waning years of the Galactic Republic. During the Clone Wars, Djinn headed the Altisian Jedi sect, a split faction of Jedi who did not follow the Jedi High Council but continued to serve the Republic.

Contents

Biography

Altis was a maverick, allowing Jedi Padawans to become romantically attached, and he taught techniques—such as the ability to preserve one's consciousness after death by transferring it to an inanimate object—which were lost to, or condemned by, the mainstream Jedi Order. He operated his Jedi academy on a praxeum ship named Chu'unthor after the original and better-known praxeum ship which crashed on Dathomir. He kept Chu'unthor hidden near the gas giant of Bespin.

Altis had arrived on Bespin as of 118 BBY and stayed there at least as of 18 BBY. There, in contrast with the normal Jedi process of separating trainees from their parents and training them at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, he recruited and trained multiple Padawans as adults, most of them from worlds outside the Galactic Republic, including Chadra. Although cast out from the main body of the Jedi Order, Altis led his trainees in the Clone Wars, an act which the Jedi Council appreciated.

Notable Jedi trained by Altis included Geith Eris and Callista Ming, who was with him for five years.

Behind the scenes

The reference to Altis's death on Dathomir is based on a somewhat confusing passage in Darksaber where Luke refers to the original Chu'unthor as though it was Altis's ship. His "maverick" behavior is largely a retroactive continuity fix to explain why Callista's Jedi training differed from the norms established in the prequel trilogy.

Tibia

From TibiaWiki

Overview

The Djinns are a race of Magical Creatures. The normal djinns sleep in Small Oil Lamps and the leaders sleep in Gemmed Lamps. They have various unusual magical powers and are dangerous to cross. Also they will not eagerly speak with humans. For ages, the djinns have been engaged in a civil war between the Efreet and the Marid. They are so evenly matched, however, that neither side has been able to overcome the other.

Both factions of djinn are reclusive, and remain almost exclusively in their fortresses in the Kha'zeel west of Ankrahmun. The Efreet and the Green Djinn remain in the Mal'ouquah, while the Marid and Blue Djinn are fortified in the Ashta'daramai.

More of the history of the Djinns can be learned from the libraries in the djinn fortresses.

The name "Djinn" comes from the Arabic word for Genie.
