The Dinger pictured here was the first one built in the early 1980s.

The Dingers are a species of Sesame Street characters. They are very similar to Honkers, except that instead of communicating by honking their noses, they ring the bells on their heads to speak.

There are at least three different Dinger puppets:

• Gold (pictured) with orange nose and hair
• Yellow with yellow hair and blue nose, later converted into a green puppet with an orange nose
• A baby Dinger, with light yellow fur and pink nose and pink curly hair.
