The Death Rider, also known as the Death Raider, is a trauma enemy from Final Fantasy II found in Pandaemonium. Its attacks are among the strongest of non-boss enemies in the game and also has fearsome Speed. When a party member is attacked, Death Rider drains their HP. Therefore, many players have misunderstood about the function of the evasion in the game and were drained 4-digits by these fearsome knights.
When appearing, it is usually found with a Mythril Golem on the fifth through sixth floor in Pandaemonium, which also inflicts massive damage to players and may kill characters who were already attacked by the Death Rider. Or, it could appear in four, which is a flag of complete annihilation, alongside with the Coeurl, if not ready.
However, it drops such valuable items such as the Thunder Spear and the Ribbon, which makes exploring the Pandemonium easier. However, it does not fully resist Coeurls and Lamias, so you still must be prepared.
