The Excalbian that appeared in Admiral Kirk's quarters insists that "the drama play its course" and that there be no interference in the Excalbian quest for knowledge. Kor asks Kirk if it's a trick, but the Starfleet admiral calls for security. Kor scoffs at the call and attacks the alien himself, but is felled after touching the rocky exterior. Security officers soon arrive, but are just as ineffectual as Kor despite using phasers. Kirk orders the men to cease fire and questions Yarnek directly. Yarnek reveals that his race is still trying to determine whether good or evil is the stronger force in the universe but decided to stage their experiment on a grander scale. The Excalbians then journeyed to Organia and attacked the Organians so they could not interfere. When Kirk reacts, Yarnek insists that they only control the supreme commanders of the Federation and Klingon forces.
